Mirtle had a good article about the Murray situation (and why it's beneficial for both sides) as well as the cap situation and different ways they can be cap complient on opening day with this roster.

Prospect #36 is much more riveting content though

- PlatosRepucklic

The key takeaway for me was that basically were he bought out, Murray would lose $2.67m out of the $8m - or basically he would only take home $5.33m instead of $8m, and at this point a free agent Matt Murray is not likely to get a contract worth $2.7m in the open market with most teams being set.

And really the only teams I can think of that could use a goaltending improvement are Chicago (you don't go there to rebuild your faltering career) or LA - and that's more that I just don't have faith in Copley or Talbot, but I don't think Murray is really an upgrade on either of them, he just had a better reputation.

But let's say he did get a $1.5m contract this year, leaving him at an overall shortfall of $1.2m for this season . . . does playing vs. not playing help his value for 2024-25? I mean I guess what this does is push the bump down the snake, because next year Murray will likely get that low figure on his next 1-year show-me deal and if he can stay healthy and show someone, I guess he stands to make more.

It's probably true that continuing to play while physically fighting a dozen ailments - whether significant enough to warrant true LTIR or not - hasn't been doing him any favours for years now.

We're slowly getting closer to Nylander and Matthews starting the last year of the contract without an extension.

Eklund will need new servers for the collapse of this place should they end up walking to free agency.
He will need even more servers for all the trolls coming out should either one win a championship with a new team.

Oh this site wouldn't survive the troll waves for sure.

Imagine caring that other people like different things than you.

Your obsession with others liking Nylander makes sense.

He believes that time is circular. He’s been quoted on this. “Suppose time is a circle, bending back on itself. The world repeats itself, endlessly, precisely. For the most part people do not know they live their lives over.”
