a depth signing, he will be used much like the past year or so. Perhaps moved at the deadline to accomodate his wish to move along. - 2.0
Perhaps moved sooner, now that he has a contract.

I still fully expect 55 and 37 to get moved by at least Thanksgiving - if not before the start of this season.
Would not be at all surprised if Stanley or Chisholm (or both) are part of the packages. If this is to happen, it makes more sense to happen before the start of the season before Stanley and Chisholm have to clear waivers. |

If that was going to happen it would have happened by now. Cap space is too tight right now for contending teams who might be interested in the services of 55 and 37. Closer to the deadline teams the cap hit will be lower and teams will have a clearer picture of their needs and any LTIR relief that opens up cap space.
jetsnation convinced me that 55 may extend, in part to cement a Jets legacy. If things go (really really) well for him he might end up with a statue beside #10.

And who's to blame for tight cap space? No one else but greedy (silly) GM's and owners who spend right to the limit.
And then complain about the salary cap!!! And what - $6.5 for Hagel? Really?

For every Hagel that gets overpaid, there are 2 other players that get squeezed out and are lucky to get $ 900K or a PTO.

Yes, so true. And then we have A. Matthews signing a 4-yr - $13M+ contract! Some more Leafs squeezed out! Good!

Seriously, why couldn't Chevy have some balls and offer sheet Alex Lafrenierre $3M per year. The cost was basically nothing ( a second-round pick to NYR) . Instead, he ends up getting ripped off by NYR's at $2.3M for 2 years.

You can only use your own picks for an offersheet and the Jets don't have their 2nd as it was traded for Nino, the Jets can't use the Habs 2nd they acquired for an offersheet.
If you up the offer to $4.3M-6.4M per then the compensation increases to a 1st and 3rd.
Offersheets are rare and Lafreniere would have to want to sign it, a good player signing an offersheet with the Jets would be hilarious 😆
If there's a guy that Chevy should've thrown a healthy offersheet at was Bouchard. |

Back to Rasmus Kupari......
He may have the potential to fill in on a higher line, in case of injuries.
It has been rare that any of our 4th liners in the past, had much in the way of offensive potential. |

Yea, one never knows about Kupari. Hasn't put up big numbers but was a first round pick so I suspect there is some offensive upside.
Was certainly happy to see him included in PLD trade - you never know! Certainly opportunity is knocking for him! |

Salomonsson coming to Jets training camp. H-m-m-m? |

Salomonsson coming to Jets training camp. H-m-m-m? - grahamzky
Is that surprising or something?
Salomonsson was signed a week after he was drafted and pretty sure his ELC starts this season though maybe it slides if he goes back to Sweden for the season, they really need to get him on the Moose and his north American career started sooner then later if he has legit top 4 dman potential.
Just looking at the ages and contracts of DeMelo, Pionk, Dillon and Schmidt it would appear there should be some opening(s) on the blueline in another season or two, that is if the organization clears a path for some of their D prospects to actually secure a spot in the lineup. |

It is surprising only in the fact that Salomonsson was not originally supposed to be at Jets camp, at least according to the story I read.
However he was playing so well in Sweden that it was decided to bring him here for a serious look. I think Salomonsson is a vital part that the Jets can look forward to as they semi rebuild.
Realistically next year is the earliest we can hope he makes the roster - but wouldn't it be something if he played well enough that he played himself onto the roster this year? He is my next big hope on the b-line. |

Im curious, did you look at minutes played? were they also the same? - Ross77
I find this comment interesting. On one hand you guys keep telling me that Lowry's great. On the other hand, when I point out that we have potentially landed another Adam Lowry you guys take it as an insult towards the player.
Anyhow it does appear as if you do agree with me on the over usage of Lowry.

Gotcha, I just assumed he'd be at camp since he's already signed, thought he was at that prospect camp/tourney thing shortly after the draft but maybe I was wrong about that.
Would take a monumental feat for Salomonsson to make the team this year, too many dmen with contracts ahead of him and guys like Stanley and Heinola are ahead on the pecking order.
They REALLY need him to grab a top 4 spot in a year or two, this defense needs improvement. |

Lowry is good at what he does. Plays physical, wins faceoffs, stands up for his teammates. Kupari is a completely different type of player.

Yea, from what I recall, it said Swedes start their hockey earlier over there and he was doing great, I "believe" top pairing.
Anyways, no in all likely-hood not this season, but wouldn't be surprised if he makes the jump next season if he stays healthy this year.
Could he be our best d-prospect since Josh? |

During his last year in Junior, Lowry played left wing. In 72 games with the Swift Current Broncos he scored 45 goals and 43 assists for 88 points. The Jets turned him into a center and turned him into what he is now. Most likely they have the same plan for Kupari. |

He played C his last year in Swift Current with Coda Gordon on his left wing and Graham Black on his right. I was here.
it was Colby Cave's first year as the 2C.

what??? settle down, stop over thinking it. I have no problem and completely understand the point you were making. mine to was also simple, if the minutes played was similar, your point holds up but if the minutes played were different your point falls apart and you wouldn't be comparing apples to apples. |

overall im excited for the season, i have no expectations either way.
i am just excited to see some new faces up front and some new combinations.
obviously disappointed both 37 and 55 are still here and would've preferred we moved on from both. i'm terrified the jets will convince themselves to keep both as self-rentals and get nothing for either. also disappointed there were no D players moved out. but alas, looking forward to pre season |

ROOMER:
"At the heart of the speculation lies the exchange of star center Mark Scheifele and promising defenseman Ville Heinola from the Jets to the Rangers.
In return, the Jets could receive center and winger Filip Chytil, along with defenseman Braden Schneider from the Rangers."
Maybe if the Jets retain salary on Scheifele???? But I think the Rangers are a little light then.....just a little light, like by adding a 3rd for the salary retention. |

I'd be all over this if I were the Jets! Maybe a higher draft choice though? |
