It's been a weird summer. By now the grass is usually brown and you don't need to cut it for 2 months. I've had to cut twice in July and will have to do it again next week. Getting drowned out there some days.

my son decided to grow pumpkins and well it's taken over the backyard and I don't cut the grass where they are. doesn't leave much to do

Man oh man you’ve been fighting through a ton of stuff. You’re suffering significantly that’s for damn sure. Yeah I’ve been through a hell but it didn’t include breathing and/or skin pain… well the staples weren’t pleasant but they weren’t “stuck” on me for long lol.

As for the meds no, those are for partial seizures but I’m glad you’re taking them since even partial ones can grow into massive ones if not taken care of. I’ve been on the heavy duty couple since 2020 now but I will always respect efforts to avoid any type of the three dozen seizures.

I hope you come around and get to enjoy some of this summer… my b day is Aug 30 so before then is when I’ll have my fingers crossed for you.

Thanks just to clarify the breathing deeply issue is 100% nerve pain but it’s across my right side under the rib age to mid line and then over and across to my spine (which makes sense since there the path of the nerves apparently). I’m not having. Seizures at all but the Dr thought that specific medication would help with the nerve pain. Honestly I don’t think it’s doing Squat.

The cbd/thc gummies have been a god send.

I was supposed to be at a goalie camp in Rochester last weekend - I was happy to be upright out of bed for more than 2 hours at a time last weekend! Lol

Caribana dude!

IT's ON!

I have never and will never go. There is just too much stupid violence downtown Toronto every single year at this event.

Even most of the Toronto police I know say to stay away from it. Sad really because the food, music etc is pretty dope!

Kempenfest this weekend in Barrie. It’s usually a good time to walk through and catch some decent tunes at the stages.

The headliners this year musically are Finger 1, & Tom Cochrane (on different night).

Agreed on the hope for sooner vs later. As I told my wife today - I’m starting to heal the skin sensitivity pain / rash pain has gone from the range of 8 when I’m absolutely still to a 10 down to 6 when absolutely still to an 8 or so.

Even taking deep breaths hurts - having a head / sinus cold is not helping at all.

Not to be gross but the other sign I’m on the mend is the rash has blistered and is now scabbing over and will flake off eventually apparently. Think chicken pox as a kid but instead of spite it’s a whole rash of that. The skin sensitivity is mush bigger and painful than the rash most of the time.

Literally just stood outside and the breeze blew my Tahoe against my skin around my rib cage area and instant snug time pain.

I’ve talked to a few folks who have had ir and done lots of internet research. Often 5 weeks of pain but I got on an anti viral drug a day after the rash which no should help speed this up.

I’m determined to work Monday remotely - being off work for 2 weeks has be so far behind!

Side note I’m on an anti seizure drug which is supposed to help with the nerve pain - maybe something f you are on or have been on - Gabapentin

.

Sorry to hear, its one nasty pain to go thru. I had it a couple years ago and it ate the nerves that run from the middle of my back around to my belly button. Was on meds and morphine and it would still buckle me over with pain just from breathing deeply. Untill a doctor tells you otherwise, you pretty much think your slowly dieing...

It ate the nerves!!!! 🥹😳😳😳😳

Oh god man I hope it healed up for you
?!?!

The way you described the pain is bang on.

I reached for a bottle of water in the fridge on the top shelf with my right had today. (That’s the side my shingles is on) and I had to grab the counter to prevent me from doubling over.

Back pain and spasms arena added bonus to this.

Can’t wait to be nerve pain free and I shiver at the thought of it not going away which I understand for some folks it never does fully.

I’m confident the anti virals prevented the rash from wrapping all the way around to my back and is speeding this up. This is what I tell myself anyhow. Lol

The small steps become big ones rather quickly don’t they!? Lol

I’m happy you aren’t seizing tho, but to feel the pain of them is not a pleasant thing at all so I’m so sorry to hear that.

And for those gummies my neurologist isn’t against them, he’s not against my use of weed at all however he refuses to encourage me smoking anything lol. I’m way better these days tho.. since I cut out cigarettes I don’t even enjoy doobs anymore… just little puffs out of a pipe. An eighth used to last me a night or two, these days more like a week or more

Holy poop is this true!

The pain started for a week and a half or so
With super intense pain under my ribs and on my back. I totally thought I did something muscular and apparently this is quite commonly what people think it is.

For me It felt like someone have been hitting you as hard as they can with a ball bat in the ribs and back for hours and you should be super bruised with broken ribs etc. that lasted a week and a half or so and then the rash came.

Was lucky to call Dr and get the antivirals quickly as apparently after the rash of you don’t go On them within 40 hours or something of the rash appearing they are pretty useless.

I can see morphine for the pain being prescribed but I am pretty leery of opioids in general - way too many stories of addiction but the old devils lettuce in the form of edibles has helped.

Like cigars and have a modest collection in my humidor) I just can’t inhale! Maybe I should be a politician? Lol

I’m all over the gummies though. The ones from the reserve are the best bang for your buck by a country mile.

This is the reserve near Belleville (Tyendinaga) if your old enough to remember the Pop Shoppe the. This should

Have a great long weekend everyone.

PSA if you are 50+ or close to 50 I’d personally strongly encourage you to get your Shingles shot.

I’m on week 3 of having Shingles and wouldn’t wish this on anyone.

I always thought it was an “old person” thing but my Dr told me it’s become very common for 40+ to get it over the past 5 years or so.

Lucky me to get it bang on my 50th year on this big marble. It was on my to do list this year, I just hadn’t got it yet. 🙄

So when I was around 28, I had this horrible growth show up on my forehead - it was red, fierce, scabby - and protruding. It looked, for all the world, like I was growing a horn out of one side of my head (my first devil horn) - but it hurt like a son of a female dog; it was basically tied right into my sinus cavities, so the pain shot through the eyes and the teeth in one side of my face. So I see a doctor - but back then I lived in downtown TO and my doctor was in Etobicoke, so I'd basically gotten on with just seeing walk-in doctors.

So this walk-in doctor walks in, looks me up and down and says, "What seems to be the problem?" And I said, gesturing, "The horn?" And she says, slowly backing away towards the door, "Oh, I know what that is. It's herpes!" and she closes the door without another word retreating away from me. Leaving me - now I was 28 and single, so not _super_ active, but active enough that my mind is racing about the wrong type of herpes. I'm thinking, "This is insane. You can't get herpes on your face. Right? I've never heard of that!" . Now I do know - and did know then - that chicken pox is also a strain of herpes, as are cold sores - but I'm in the wrong headspace for that clear thinking. It was a frenetic few minutes in my brain until she returned and told me it was shingles.

The upshot of all that is that it was also a sort of misdiagnosis - it's related to shingles, but it's a type of cold sore that doesn't come out on the lips - it comes out in the T above and between the eyes . . . apparently you only get shingles once, but this horn poop has come back several times over the years.

I know how much mine hurts - and I am well aware from others who have had the full blown body/back shingles - how awful and painful it is. I wish you a speedy recovery, at least from here. One thing that does help with the duration and symptoms is Valtrex if you didn't get any prescribed. You could at least ask your doctor their opinion if you still don't see progress.

Wowza that sounds like quite the ordeal I hope it never comes back for you.

My wife jokingly said “divorce time you have Herpes”. Lol

Thanks for the heads up on the Valtrex - of the nerve pain persists I’ll inquire for sure because the other stuff is t doing much if anything.

Sorry to hear this Cush. After reading this I'm glad I got that Shingrix Vax a couple years ago when I turned 50. I got the Plevnar pneumococcal meningitis vaccine at the same time.

Oh the non smoking challenge is already part of my life. My gf hates smoking, never smoked tobacco, and only smoked weed/oil/hash growing up (she’s around our age) to simply catch a buzz.

Now that we can get candy at where I get weed (they give us a punch card that gives us discounts routinely) we’re very happy with it. It’s literally in the exact same building as the shoppers I pick up my anti seizure meds from lol… called Lux Smoke Cannabis

Nothing but an open ski, a slight breeze, and sitting around 30 here in London.

The Majors are playing the Brantford Red Sox tomorrow, in the world’s oldest ballpark here in London (Labatt Memorial Park). My gf will be off at work and it’s not far from where I live so I may just go grab a ticket for myself. Love that park, even got to play there as a teen a few times.

I just got it for the second time in 6 weeks. Luckily, it didn't get as bad as some. Fever, pain etc.. But no blisters and the pain wasn't debilitating.
