Great move as it eases the huge log jam there was up front. If he can ditch Petry for a 2nd or something similar this will be even better.

Im ok with DeSmith hanging around in a worst case scenario.

Desmith was* a pretty good backup until he needed core surgeries then he struggled. So if healthy he can play pretty decently.

Is HuGo good enough to trade Petry twice in 12-13 months?

that 2025 PIT 2nd round pick could be very good.
more than enough considering Hoffman is gone.

Petry reminds me a zombie in Walking Dead…

When you think you got rid of it, it (frank)ing come back bothering you…

Hopefully next time we get rid of him, he won’t come back!

Petry at 4.6M is ok until he is moved. Good trade for MTL, Hoffman and Pitlick gone. Need to move a goalie and Petry.

If they keep getting picks/prospects/player for him and the other team retains salary, no problem.

They had a big problem moving Hoffman, Petry at 4.6m is much easier to move IMO.

Retain more salary and deal him at the deadline. A contender would probably give a 2nd or conditional 1st type of deal for Petry at 3mil or cheaper.

There may be issues with his skating from what I’ve read and heard from Pens fans already. But you never know 👍🏻🤞🏻

That was the thought when Legare was drafted. Since then his skating hasn't improved and he doesn't have much hockey sense to make up for it. He's been a 12/13 forward for the Pens minor team and if he makes it, it will be partly because he's a big guy willing to fight. Other then size, the one tool that stands out is he has a special shot if he gets into position to use it.

Matheson with Barron, Petry with Guhle. Then Harris, Xhekaj, Kovacevic, and Savard rotating in and out on the third pair.

Maybe or keep him until trade deadline and
up his value

Historically, Petry’s value melts closer you get to the deadline…

Don't see it.. they cleared a backlog at forward only to have a bigger one on defence.

Something is gonna give before the start of the season.
