I went on a golfing trip this weekend, played 3 rounds of golf.

I'm not that great of a golfer so I made only 1 birdie the whole time.

Right when I did, someone tells me Hoffman got traded.

It's going to be a tough moment to beat this year as far as great moment goes.

They might trade him down the road, but if mtl made that trade, they had to be ready to put him on their roster

Hoffman had no business on that team anymore and getting Petry back is how bad they wanted him gone

This defense is very green and I said earlier on in july that they could used a vet on the right side of D

What happened one month later? They got a vet to play on the right side of D

mind you I did not think it would be Petry, but I guess he fits the bill. + Hoffman is gone

- deadpoulet

I'd rather see Petry in this year's lineup than Hoffman. Petry can still help on the PP and be a mentor to the young ones.

Of course, I'd rather see himm traded!

Petry is alright and I can understand the trade.

WTF is going on with the goalies?

Could be a nice story if he would redeem himself to some degree, even if its only for a year or a year and a half

They already needed to do a rotation on defense before the trade

What I would expect to see
Matheson, Petry
Ghule, Savard
Harris, Kovacevic

in rotation with Harris and Kovasevic : Wifi and Barron

Wideman can play in Laval if all defensemen are healthy to start the season (not sure thats the case)

They might lose Primeau on waivers at the start of the season

If they need to call back somebody from Laval, they can now call back Desmith, who has NHL experience

do you have another easy one like that for me?

Allen is most probably gone.

Is Primeau > DeSmith? not sure... Monty seems to be the legit starter.

Primeau is still young with an easy contract to take on

I dont think a team would claim Desmith and if it did happen, nobody would care

Cest un plan C

Desmith has a .912 sv % carreer, not a great season last year but he makes less than 2 mil with the shortage of goalies he's not passing waivers is my prediction. I doubt Hugo's plan is Laval

lets say they trade Allen and keep Desmith in mtl.

They then lose Primeau on waivers (likely to happen) and are now stuck with the same problem they had to begin with (no one with NHL experience to call back if an injury happen).

Unless they do not trade Allen, but send him to Laval.

That would be a plot twist even bigger than Jimmy Uso turning his back on his own twin brother at Summerslam.

And he did that on my Bird Day!

agreed, many teams are looking for a good backup, Hughes will filp de Smith and his reasonable 1.8M price tag.

Or Petry and DeSmith start the season and HuGo trade other players to make some room?

dont expect him to make that move untill training camp is under way

intern competition is good

I would suggest Barron and Primeau to have a good camp

I do agree that he has a reasonable price tag, however, the pens who also had 4 goalies could only dump him in a 3 team trade
