Ugh
poopty.

Better news:
Ryu X rays are negative. Return is just a quest of being able to put weight on leg. Could start in normal slot on Sunday. Could.

Romano throwing hard in bullpen. Just needs to build up strength. Could be matter of days.

Bichette progressing well. Jays being cautious but it’s day-to-day.

Not sure if serious but they’re on a 4 game streak against 2 not very good teams. Jays need Bo’s bat and all star reliever. Ryu’s return gives them 5 starter insurance in case Manoah goes south again.

Thinking that the Leafs and Panthers will battle for first. Tampa and Boston are good enough to get in the 3 and 4 spot. Still, Buffalo, Ottawa and Detroit won't be far behind. Even the Habs are on the move upwards. Not an easy division. Could be 2 wildcard teams coming out of the Atlantic as wildcard teams in the first round.

I think the great Leap forward this year will be the Sabres.

My guess is Karlson only spends 2 years in Pittsburgh. They'll probably make the playoffs and bow out in the 1st or 2nd round this year and look even less like a contender the following year. That's when Dubas will find someone to take Karlsson for a run even with a couple more years remaining on his contract.

I'm guessing that Florida has a hangover to start the year. Many of their key players were severely beaten up trying to win the Cup. Some of those injuries will still be lingering around to start the season. Gudas is gone and some of the players who raised their game to career levels, will probably revert back to their career totals. Tampa, like Boston, needs a retool, but traded too many picks and prospects away to bring relief to their rosters. I'm guessing that Ottawa and Buffalo will be on their tales most of the year. Toronto could win the division with a lesser point total than last year. Boston's career year will be a distant memory by Christmas.

They're missing Ekblad and Mountour for a few months. Barring something strange, they will be in tough to stay .500

until they trade Willy for Pageau
- drexel

Nah. Leafs need to add Liljegren and a 2nd, just to get Pageau, Wahlstrom, and a 3rd.

(frank)ing imagine someone thinking that trade makes any sense what so (frank)ing ever.

Leafs trade the 3 best pieces in the trade, but Ek thinks this makes sense.

So leave Romano, Ryu and Bichette off the team for the year?

They did that last season. I doubt they'll have back to back seasons with huge jumps. Because really, they're not stacked.

I think they'll probably plateau a bit this season.

It's possible. It's also possible that the Dubas haters will have a new excuse on why he sucks if the pens do well and the leafs miss or fail early in the playoffs again. Lots of fun storylines to come.

I am hopeful it's a ECF pens vs leafs

And it's ruined by the offense not scoring.

Playing all 3 of Biggio, Espinal, and DeJong in the same starting lineup is basically asking to lose, though.

How many games before they fire DeJong into the sun? He's basically an automatic out.

I think the Sens take the largest step in the Atlantic this year. Boston is still a good team - it's not like they don't have Pastrnak, Marchand, and solid pieces around them like Coyle, Zacha, DeBrusk - and a league best defense even before they added Orlov - so they'll rock McAvoy, Lindholm, Carlo, Grzelick - and inexplicably Shattenkirk. They're going to be hard to displace, but losing #1 & #2 centres, Hall and Foligno - that's a lot of offense lost to overcome with Van Riemsdyk, Lucic and Shattenkirk.

Meanwhile the Sens added Korpisalo in net - which is big on its own - and replace DeBrincat with Tarasenko - and I'm a firm believer in Stutzle's continued development and of course that asshat Tkachuk. Personally, I'd consider Ottawa a solid WC contender moreso than Buffalo - and I hate how good they've become. I think the biggest weakness in Sabreland this year is the lack of a proven starter.

Pulled a decent largemouth bass out of the pond in High Park, and saw a beaver swimming to and fro. Pretty good stuff.

Agree that Boston is still ok. Not great but they should be at least a wild card team. As far as Sens vs Buffalo, I like the Sabres better. I agree weak goaltending but they have cap room (about $6M) Sens are tight against the cap and yet to sign Pinto. Sabres also have 2 solid #1 overall pick young d-men that will be great for a long time. Sabres also don't have any dead cap this year while Sens have about $5M tied up in dead cap. No real garbage contracts on the Sabres, while Sens signing Norris to an $8M x8 is a real head scratcher.
