I'm just hoping that Fletcher remains employed as a studio analyst to give us his insight on the NHL. I hate to see a talent like that wasted. - MJL

You view Kase as a prospect at this point? Yikes. He’s about as much a prospect as Max Willman. - SuperSchennBros
I think he was making the same point you are. He didn't say Kase was a "prospect". |

He had nothing more to accomplish as a GM. Leaves two franchises in tatters then gets to pontificate to others on how it should be done.

It was really cringey to see so many Flyer fans falling over themselves to mock the Pens for acquiring a 100 point defenseman for basically the cost of a 1st round pick while ridding themselves of the ghastly Granlund contract Hextall just traded for. Pittsburgh may not be true contenders, but barring major injuries they're a lock to be back in the playoffs for the 17th time in 19 seasons since the 2005 lockout, and they're definitely going to be fun for their fans to watch. Unlike the sad sack Flyers who will be looking at another bottom 10 finish and possibly a 3rd straight year with the NHL's worst powerplay. - Feanor
A lock to make the playoffs with Jarry in net?????? Dont think so....also you truly expect EK..CROSBY..MALKIN..LETANG..and JARRY to make it thru the season without missing significant time?? No chance. Better have the best medical staff you can find |

You’re both right. I read it and processed it wrong. This “shady” trade worked in the Flyers favor, so when I read his original post, all I heard in my head was the usual female doging.

Here is the deal. You make a move like that to win a cup. And that team has no chance of winning a cup. It is a "win now" move with a team that doesn't have a "win now" roster. They have a "win then" roster.
Pens fans are loving it as a last gasp. But when they go out in the first or second round again, up against the cap, with an aging roster, a bare prospect pool, no first round pick next season, and 3 more $10,000,000 years of EK at 34, 35, and 36 years old...I don't think they will be too happy about it. Especially if he holds to form and gets hurt again. Having played 53, 56, 52, and 50 games the four seasons before he finally played all 82 last season.
I also see the thought process of trying to win while they still have a high performing 36 year old Crosby, a high performing 37 year old Malkin, and a 36 year old Letang who had a stroke last season. But how much longer will they be productive enough at that age to carry that weak roster?
I don't know. We shall see.

I’m pretty sure this is how most of us “cringey” Flyers’ fans saw this deal. If it works out for the Penguins, god bless but if it doesn’t. They better go bankrupt again for another decade hope 3 generational talents drop into their laps again. |

I’m not sure Pitt knows how to tank. They know how to go broke, even with the biggest and most elite stars the league has ever seen. |

They tanked like crazy for Lemieux and Crosby. I remember the latter. They essentially sat out talent to field a roster that would lose games. |

Anyone catch the Tim Peel interview on nasty Knuckles talking about Torts? I gotta tell you, a lot is being made about Torts on this board and how evil he is. I’m heard stories straight from Tim Peel, Keith Jones, Michael Del Zotto and Brad Richards that’s he’s a good dude. Even guys that had a bad relationship at some point like Scott Hartnell, Vincent LeCavalier and Ryan Kesler all admit they had their run-ins but still felt like he was a gem. |

You are going to get in trouble for being blasphemous. People on this board think Torts is evil incarnate and a mean coach that all players hate.

Torts wasnt hired because he is a brilliant tactical coach. He was hired because the genius in charge felt the problem with the team was a lack of effort and not talent. Torts was hired to change the culture in the room; to bring back “Flyers hockey”. 🙄
I think the hope of the current management triumvirate is that he’ll at least get the team playing with some aggression so the fans have something entertaining to watch while they rebuild and that it doesn’t really matter too much, right now, anyway since they just don’t have a good roster. |
