Da Riz hopefully signs here and we see if he can make any noise in the AHL.
Bill,
What’s the chances John Farinacci or other college, CHL or European UFA players sign here? Both from, are we attractive and is the team pushing for adding prospects from these areas?
yes you are, see through you like cellophane. - hello it's me 2050
Actually not true. Frost is an asset. If Frost can bring back some good young defensive help I would value that. However I am also happy if Frost stays because I am intrigued to see how he performs this season playing higher in the lineup right from the start. Will he pick up where he left off the 2nd half of last season, or will he continue to be inconsistent? I would be fine with the Flyers holding on to him another year to answer this question.
You think Sanhiem is willing to waive? - coffee junkie
I would make the Sanheim trade if I were the Flyers, but I don't think the Jets would. I think Sanheim would waive his NMC, he is not tied to Philly after all and would probably value getting away from Torts. However I don't believe Sanheim has much value out there right now. Fletcher strikes again!

I’m not looking to trade Frost but I agree that the team is desperate for quality D prospects that have a celling of playing on the first pairing. Doubt Frost alone could fetch that. But, sure, I’d trade him, and a lot of other guys, for a top 2 D prospect.

every player is an asset to some extent.
if frost is as inconstant as yo preach, what value does he have? acquire the same type who plays D?
So kind of them to donate a 5th to the Flyers charity after they fleeced Fletcher for three higher picks. - Feanor
Canes didn't have to do this deal, obviously as Kase is a throw-in at this point....this was about addressing what was a completed deal in principle until the league stepped in and nixed it. I don't fault the Canes for the TDA deal...if you're in their shoes, you do that deal in a heartbeat...but that's separate to what happened here. Again, the Canes did right by honoring what had already been agreed to.
Brink and Rizzo are clones. Brink is better. But two smallish DU guys with playmaking skills who aren’t great skaters. Both have to play top 6 to be most effective. Highly questionable that either could weather the physicals rigors of being bottom six forwards. Tough road.
I am not wishing Frost gets traded, however if the Flyers can get a good young defensive prospect back in a trade for Frost, I would be all for it. I am not saying this is a Torts issue, but I think we can agree Torts is not a fan of Frost. If this was Cates not being signed yet, I am sure Torts would positively influence the negotiation. In this case, I don't think Torts is pushing the Flyers to go above and beyond for Frost. Does that matter? Probably not, especially if Briere is in Frost's corner. - jd250
The head coach has zero to do with this negotiation. Tortorella may influence which players he wants on the team but he is not injecting himself into contract decisions in terms of money. You are wishing for Frost to be traded. There is no doubt. Either that or you are a new fan to the sport.

Is Tippett inconsistent? Would you be willing to trade Tippett for a defense prospect?
Massimo Rizzo has a great name and some talent but is also 22 years old already and isn't really all that close. If all goes well he might be a depth guy in a couple seasons, but I'd be surprised if he ever reaches the NHL. - BINGO!
Maybe in his career altogether but this past year with the flyers he looked like a regular scorer. More so than Frost imo. Someone who creates. You said it yourself a lot of his goals were individual efforts of skill - well what else would you expect when the rest of the team is as bad as they are, which you also agree with.
Frost has been in the system, coddled, given chances and while he was fine as of late, he really hasn’t blown the doors off for himself. Meanwhile Tippett comes in, quiet, no drama just does his thing and looked to be one of the best players on the team. Anyone who says Frost outplayed Tippett last season clearly just has a hard-on for Frost. It wasn’t even close.
But the more important thing is they are both on the team we love and we should want them both to do well

Tippett played better, but I think it was actually way closer than you give Frost credit for.
Frost was especially better defensively as far as goals against. 87 for Tippett as compared to 69 for Frost. Granted Tippett played 1341:54 minutes and Frost played 1323:47.
The only "by far" stats was PPG's 8 vs 1. and SOG (231 vs 155)
everything else was closer than you think. They both had pretty quality seasons.

Both players played well. Frost though is the better all-around player in my opinion. Tippett relies too much on one on one plays and is weaker away from the puck. Frost is a more well rounded offensive player and better away from the puck.
