I missed the first 10 mins but I didn’t think he did.
Isabella looked good at WR but awful on KO returns.
Keesean Johnson had some decent grabs.
Shakir gotta be more consistent.
Our backfield should be Singletary, Cook and Murray.
DL looked good but LB depth is questionable |

He played in the 1st Quarter, but wasn't targeted at all. |

Good post.
I'm kinda from the camp that plays levi good or bad. He's the future. If he struggles, you play him.
They have to develop levi, cant think of another way then playing him. Possibly in the ahl if hes super stinky.
He may struggle but he's not going to flop, he already proved it last season to some degree. He beat good teams and played a lot of games late. - Boss34
There would be no shame in developing Levi in the AHL this season, if needed.
If it's acceptable for Wallstedt and Askarov, it's acceptable for Levi. |

Normally wouldn't be but the bar he has to clear is so much lower here that its unlikely.
If Comrie has like .917 through 20 games and Levi is in the .890s sure thats an easy call.
But if he's the only goalie above .900, sending him down basically tells everyone you're punting. He may actually need to be sent down, but they've trapped themselves there. |

I think AHL development is overrated and blown way out of proportion - you either have it or you don’t. |

The real trap is that no one is, and I'm not sure you'd project anyone to be better than that going in to the season. What do you do then?

The 100 minutes of of EV time he saw in 21-22 were literally the best defense the Sabres played that year lol |

I think that's generally true of skaters. If a team has room for them to develop in the pros then great. Look at Roope Hintz, rookie at 22 played 58 games in Dallas 9G 22P, 73 games last year at 26 37G 75P. He was allowed to develop in the pros.
I don't think goalies are afforded two full seasons to develop into a legit starter in the NHL unless the team has zero aspirations, and that may be the Sabres. But I don't think they can sell another year or two of "development" with nothing even close to guaranteed at the end of it. |

A goalie is only as good as the team in front of him. There’s generally 3-5 elite goalies in the NHL at a time, imo.
AHL is such a weird league, I almost think a goalie is better off in the junior leagues developing than in the AHL. |

Interesting example with Hintz.
He didn't play in the NHL until 3 seasons after he was drafted.
He also played a full season in the AHL the season before the NHL, and he had 20 and 15 in 70 games.
He then began the next season in AHL, where he was a point per game player through 21 games, before being called up to the NHL.
I guess those 90 AHL games were meaningless. |

No but nothing they've done /should/ indicate that they would be willing to punt this year in terms of getting to the post season. |

Curious what they'd do if Levi was league average, and both of Comrie and UPL were bad through 30-35 games.
Would they make a move? What move would even be available? |

Assuming Levi was doing this starting most of the games, probably nothing. They'd likely focus on a skater.
If its the same scenario but theyve divided starts equally between all three, it would likely depend on where they are in the standings. If they're close or in a spot, I think you'd see a move. |

Tokarski is at least a viable option, if anything goes off the rails. You know there's never much available on the goalie market that early in the season.
