It's a lazy comp. Good shot = VO. Tall = Tage. - Lunaion
Well said. Typical for hockey prospect comps seemingly. |

Would be great, of all the prospects who would you give 9 games in Buffalo to? - washedup20
Kulich? It's tough. A lot of the talking heads seem to think Benson could hack it now, but the size does scare me. I'd want him to get a bit stronger first, same with Savoie. Whereas I think Kulich could probably hack a 3C job right now. |

Let's just say hypothetically he looks better than Jost in camp, would you rather have Krebs move up a line or two for Quinn and let Kulich center the Larries, or give Kulich the winger spot and keep Krebs where he is? |

1) Benson - writer says he is not worried about size, thinks he could make the NHL this season
2) Levi - writer is worried about size and thinks putting him the NHL this early is high risk
3) Kulich - compared to Victor Olofsson
4) Savoie - writer doesn't know where he will play in the Sabres lineup due to so many players already in his position
5) Ostlund - writer says he needs to work on strength and won't even suggest where he could end up in the Sabres organization until the end of next year.
They all have promise and talent, 3 of the 5 players on this list play the same style and the writer doesn't even know where/how they will all fit in the lineup. - washedup20
Kulich as a goal scorer, but says with a better overall game. Kulich does have a fantastic shot and that will be about the only thing comparable when Kulich hits the ice. Kid is built like a Bulldozer and hasn't even filled out yet. |

That's a good one. Not sure tbh. Krebs seemed like a natural winger because he's so good at those cross ice passes from the wall and Kulich is the more natural center...but I've honestly never watched Jiri play wing and Krebs struggled there a bit. I think I'd start Kulich on the wing to ease him in if anything??? |

I don't really consider Kulich for 9 games because he's in position to play a lot more and can come up at anytime. He's in a good spot to win a job, at the start or when the opportunity presents itself during the season.
If Savoie has a strong camp, I think you give him 9 games. |

Every team drafted size ahead of Buffalo except for Chicago (Bedard) and Philly (Michkov)
Benson is in elite company, apparently only Buffalo believes so - washedup20
size and above average skating is specifically the reasoning.

I'm not saying he's not good.
I am not concerned with writers opinions, at the draft, 12 NHL GM's valued size and passed on Benson, that is what happened. - washedup20
Size is obviously valuable but when you jump up to grab Zach Bogosian instead of Alex Pietrangelo, or Tyler Myers instead of Erik Karlsson, or Zach Kassian instead of Chris Kreider, or Erik Gudbranson instead of Jeff Skinner, and you see where I'm going with this.
The short sightedness from "He's bad because he fell to 13" (not you washed) is (frank)ing dumb.

I've decided I don't really appreciate his hockey writing very much. Some of his stuff is ok but he was way better at football.

That's fair, was definitely a good question. The only hesitation I have is because of his Rochester debut. He should be forgiven to some extent, getting thrown into the deep end of a vicious playoff series, but he looked like he needed more time. The skill is there, he'll do it, but would need to see that strong camp as you say. |

Also not sure KA is in to the 9 game tryout thing, so I'd be surprised to see it.
Would be a bit disappointed if he doesn't make a strong push in camp.

Never thought of it, but you may be right, Petey and Quinn got cups of coffee in the form of a game or two. Krebs got 48 games and got sent down. Small sample size, but still the starts of a trend. |
