Don't think they'd give a couple firsts? Can't we get Chiarelli back there to guest GM for a day? |

Think it's a bit of delusion sometimes. Guys fall out of favor here to the point where they are worth nothing and KA thinks he can get value back. - Lunaion
doesn't every team though? don't make it sound like a kevyn problem.

meh. silly bias.
every single team has expired prospects on it. and when they leave it's on the waiver wire or a return deserving of such.
asking kevyn to deal while the value is highest I suppose is a personal gambling preference.
He looks good if he wins and awful if he loses.
The last gamble the Sabres really made was Nylander for Jokiharju. If you want to call it that. |

I'd argue he looks smart in the instance of holding Mittelstadt and definitely Thompson.
He also looks dumb holding UPL, but one could argue he never really had value beyond his wjc win. |

Don't think they want Joker, Lyubushkin, or Bryson here. Can't find a trade. - Lunaion
Going to fun to read the responses here when the top 2 pairs to start the season are Dahlin - Jokiharju and Power - Samuelsson... |

I don't agree. When you can't get away from any of your players, have to question things. Good GM's know when they cut their loses.

yeah good gms conceptually would. how many instances can you count where a gm got out of a hyped prospect, got gold for him and he turned into a nothing burger?
say what you want about Joker but Botts took Murray's poop-down-his-leg and turned it into an nhl defenseman.
good, or "good" prospects just aren't traded anymore. you don't really get the kind of fleecing like you did with Cernak for Fasching like you used to.
These prospects that get swapped out.. Donovan Sebrango for Debrincat, Nathan Légaré for Karlsson, Gustav Lindström for Petry, Maxim Cajkovic for cap space, Rasmus Kupari for PLD..
they're junk and everybody knows it. It's cutting losses, it's not dealing high, ever.

Well now he doesn't is my point.
I'm trying to remove the bias from this argument instead of just leaning into some daily bemoaning of Kevyn's methods of handling his prospects.

Im of this opinion too but i underestimate how hard this actually is.
I was 100% certain last summer that they should've dealt mittelstadt and the names I was open to were markedly worse than the value he provided this year (in half a year really).
It didn't change my stance overall about knowing who to move on from, just that it's much harder than I realized. |

That's a great example. I don't believe MTL thought Sergychev had half the potential he shows now. And Bergevin is an idiot but that's besides the point. The book was exposed on Drouin by this point in time. None the less, it was a great move by Tampa.

above.
not saying it's not done, but it's exceptionally rare. At most, these usually turn into Joker for Nylanders.
the unicorn (these days) is Serg for Drouin.
