THE DENVER POST: Former NHL player Kyle Quincey is building a psychedelic retreat center for former athletes and military members.
Quincey, 34, experienced emotional instability following his retirement in 2019, citing 20 concussions and massive mood swings. In 2020, his youngest son was diagnosed with brain cancer. The youngster is now in remission following a year of treatment but that ordeal also took its toll on Quincey’s mental health.
Introduced to “magic mushrooms” by former NHL enforcer and psychedelics advocate Daniel Carcillo, Quincey found they had a profound effect on him. He’s building the retreat where he hopes to provide psilocybin therapy for individuals suffering from traumatic brain injury, addictions, anxiety and depression.

I mean, "10 mil plus" means 10 mil AND above, not just above 10 mil. You can be 18 and watch 18+ movies. As well, you gave the example of Kane and Toews starting their 10 mil even a year after their cup win.

So, take your L like a champ

- NewYorkNuck

No I literally meant 10 mil plus. There are lots of players like Vasilevevsky Kucherov with 9.5 that have won cups but usually teams with players being paid over 10 mil are on everyone's trade list.

I have even seen McD in many proposals. 10 mil is my screw you line where I don't want that player. More so with a team that is not contending for a cup. No L sorry.

I don't believe any NHL team has won a cup with a 10 mil plus player on the roster. Hawks won in 2015 and Toews and Kane 10 mil started the year later. They were a lot closer to winning a cup than Canucks are currently.

Sundin also had 32 goals the year prior to signing here.

I hated that contract from the moment it was signed. I was trying to push the Sedins out the door back then and Jimbo was looking to give them longevity.

It was a strange contract at the time no doubt. 6x6 had trouble written all over it & it became worse aka set us back years.

I think any contract longer than five years is asking for trouble unless it comes right off of a ELC.

I really like the way Vegas wheel n deal. Right for the go they have been a top four team in the league. You can say they were gifted a team but they have been one of the most active teams in the last half decade. That to me is a blueprint to follow.

I have thought they were going to stumble at one point and they traded their asses out of trouble.

The LE contract alone resulted in getting OEL. That was heaping horrible onto much worse. That signing & trade tree will go down in infamy forever in Canuckville. Add to that the flat cap era & Garland is left to deal with. Still a sliver of hope we can retrieve something for him but won’t bet on it. Gotta swallow it all & wait til it’s all over & done with that only a fantastic 2023/24 season from Garland soothing the wound or at least a tourniquet to stem the bleeding.

VGK luvs the big fish & do whatever it takes to get them. I really wanted AP for RHD but in hindsight the timing would’ve been bad while there such a mess here.

Some very good targets that got it done in VGK. Grats on Stanley’s Mug.

I bet OEL will make the playoffs this year. Helps when you are not surrounded by a flaming bag of crap.

Don't get me wrong I like some of the stuff that has gone down this year, but still feel we are miles away from being a top contender.

I personally would not pay Petey a penny over 10 mil and I would not do a sixth year. That said you would make a series of moves to either improve more or go after the top draft pick.

Petey is in the drivers seat & will do most of the dictating.

I’m more for a series of moves being Pesce RHD being the 1st target. More likely best option is UFA. Don’t see any tank coming it just isn’t the Canuck way. Doesn’t matter what fans want on that note.

Ignoring present day roster make up a top 2 RHD is still the big hole. That is an easy thing to say. I’m all about building the D into top group giving prospects the time to develop & earn bottom pair opportunity. We’ve never been in that position & won’t happen easily being every team faces that challenge. Some teams & not many are already there. Sucks tbh but it is reality & a necessary priority.

The two bolded are different things. Unless you mean them as the same thing. But they're not. If you need help, you can ask Kman for his English expertise, or Lordy for his math knowledge

Was it the WHC where the Sedins and LE dominated that one year and pushed Benning to sign LE? They did look great but it's WHC Hockey not the tough grind of the NHL...

LOL then Eriksson's first goal as a Canuck was into our own net.

Priceless.

Petey's jump this year was not marginal. His ceiling just changed dramtically and if he paces for 105-115 points this year kid's gonna get paid dude.

Yeah the WHC fooled a lot of people. LE was already signed by then.

I know he will get paid and I think it is very wrong. Like I said he is a hell of a good player but we are not a cup team and you would be investing a ton to a team that still has too many things wrong with it.

Saying that it goes only 1 of 2 ways. He resigns & the build for contention continues. If Petey has serious doubts then & only then would he be shopped for a haul. There is no middle ground imo.

As for wrong then that presumes a rebuild or major retool would ensue. Don’t see that a reality with FA & JR on the scene unless forced.

So here we are watching & hoping this gets on the tracks & continues on an upward growth that goes for many years. We’ll need a big boost from current prospects & future drafts to be cheap & impactful. That is plenty to want & more difficult to see happening.

Psychedelic retreat? We used to just call it a camping trip.
