and in more cheerful news...
Maybe don't retire, ever.
I did, and had the heart attack 2 mos. later.
Saturday we were out for dinner with my best friend and his wife. We were talking about when he would retire, and where we would travel together first. His wife just turned 60 and retired end of July.
The next day, after our dinner, she died in a bicycle accident.

Sorry about that Aeth. My condolences to you, your friend and everyone that knew her. Must be rough.
Life is so goddamn precious. I know it's cliche but it's important not to wait and do the travels and have the fun now because you never know when it's gonna end.

he was drafted in the pandemic year and did not come over for train believe due to travel restrictions in 2021. The only time he came over was after the prognosis.
There is a photo of him in Leaf gear in May 2021, but that was when the border was still closed, so if that was in Toronto, i was not there for that. - mikeinbuffalo

Bold - so fold the franchise then? That’s hockey man. Players get hurt, retire and your organization finds ways to adjust. Pro sports. Huge loss in Bergeron for sure but they can and will adjust.
It is absolutely nothing like Leafs losing 34/88. - Big23Questions
I said Ullmarks historic sv percentage will go down and Boston will get scored on at a higher rate, which is a very fair educated guess when you lose a HOF selke C and another very good 2C.

I never at all said that your comment was to fold the franchise. That’s what my response was to your comment.
You said: You can not adjust for the losses of Bergeron and Krejci...
I bolded that comment then said the fold the franchise comment in relation to the bold.
That’s what happened man. Page 3 I think.

Classic "the devil you know." It's hard to imagine the team being better without Willie because we've had Willie for so long.
But where have we gotten with Willie? Why would this team necessarily be worse without him?
It's time to break up the 50(ish)% cap anchor the Core 4 has rendered upon this team. - mjones242

Did you know that there were only 3 Bruins forwards who had a negative shot, corsi and expected goal differential? Nosek, Greer and Krejci. While Nosek and Greer had checking roles and that's a relatively predictable outcome for that role - Krejci spent the majority of the year with Pastrnak, Hall or Zacha and still had poor performance numbers. His production was decent, but he was more of a supporter and contributor than a driver.
He might not be that difficult to replace; he wasn't even playing centre for most of the year, playing left-side with Zacha and Pastrnak - although I believe he was taking the majority of the draws and then deferring the centre role to Zacha.

He gives dynamics to the top-6 that you wouldn't have otherwise. Let's say you moved him out and went with some variation of Domi-JT-Bertuzzi on the 2nd line or even Knies-JT-Domi with Bertuzzi taking the Bunting role - you lose some of the dynamics that you had with Willy in terms of zone exit and entry and skating with the puck. The line would be more dump/chase/retrieve. That might work for Knies, but Domi is still a smaller player and JT is still slower. You limit the options by losing a dynamic player.
This isn't to say he can't be moved, but moving him simply because his cheap $7m contract (for 40 goals that's a steal of a contract right now) is a cap anchor is a strange way to think about it.
If I'm moving Willy, it's not just to make a move or to break up the core just to do it - it's because there's an opportunity to make the team better under the cap and use that $7m in a way that does so. Outside of maybe Lindholm in Calgary, I don't see it.

Read your post.
Yes you did.
I said they can not adjust to losing them and be the team they were.
Its just the truth.
Just like if the Leafs lost AM they would be a worse team. |

Professor - it’s ok to be wrong sometimes man: you post decent stuff from time to time.
In this instance you accuses me of saying you stated to fold. I did not. I was the one who sarcastically stated to fold the franchise if they can’t replace those 2 players.
My entire comment or post was commenting that if you are saying that if those 2 are impossible to replace them just give up as a franchise. Again just being sarcastic.
It’s all good though man just a misunderstanding. |
