More overpriced than an Ontario private school

Just watched some vid clips from Hughes’ presser and said that they’re going into the season with Price not on LTIR to allow them more flexibility.

He also hinted that in order to do this, the team has some things to do to accommodate that which he couldn’t speak to. More moves???? I sure hope so!!

Love this guy!

Don't get excited about Lindstom. He's a defensive liability everytime he's on the ice. I'm so glad we got rid of him. He's an AHLer at best. He won't stay in your lineup very long. Don't expect him to improve his game at his current age. He does not play physical at all and doesn't add any offense. He gets caught out of position fairly often.

Is his skating a liability too? Hugges said that he was at 70% of his ability right now…..

He's not the worst skater I've seen (probably average I'd say). It's his mental lapses that will drive you nuts. His hockey IQ is crap. His coverage is awful. He's does not provide steady reliable defense you need from a NHL defender who doesn't score. He's a decent passer... but not much upside.

Good to know. Thanks. Does his play have anything to do with being played to high in the pairings? Or because he was on a rebuilding team? I know he’s only played like 38 games….just curious.

And thank you for your feedback.

I will say that getting Petry will definitely add some depth to our blueline. Red Wings are a much improved team after this offseason. We have some very good defensive prospects that still need to develop... (Edvinsson, Johansson, Pellika). But they still need some time.

I've been watching Lindstrom play since he first started out in the AHL and was eventually moved up to Detroit. He's pretty much always been in the bottom pairings in Detroit. I think Yzerman kept him around because he's still relatively young and gave us some insurance because of injury. He's pretty much always been our worst defeneseman in Detroit since I can remember. Even on a rebulding team like the Wings. His skating is decent and his passing is okay.... but it doesn't make up for his mental mistakes in the defensive zone. But... maybe a change of scenery will be what he needs.

yep, assuming De Smith and Wideman will get waived, Hughes needs to find another 1.2M
Habs also currently have 26 players, waiving De Smith and Wideman brings them to 24. needs to move another one. or send 2 kids to Laval.

They can send young players in Laval when the season begins to get cap compliant with Carey and bring them back up afterwards.

Even without any more moves, the Habs are fine.

If Detroit doesn't looks like a playoff team at the deadline it wouldn't surprise me if a team looking for a cheap capable veteran D man for a run comes calling for Petry in March. Maybe that's the Yzerman strategy here. Get a guy who already has 75% salary retention and turn him into a 2nd round pick in 7 months.
