Honestly, there are worse players you could play than Jeff Carter; just look at half of the Flyers' roster.
- jmatchett383

The only thing that I’m worried about right now regarding Jeff Carter is that his cap hit could block us from signing Tatar. Beyond that, our bottom six is much better this year and Dubas’ moves suggest he’ll likely play wing this year where his negative impact will be mitigated. Carter as 4RW is not ideal but I’m not super worried about it like I’d be if he was playing 3C.

I was just gifted VIP tickets to Alanis Morissette tonight hahaha. Outdoor concert about 10 min walk from my house... Weather is very nice today and tonight.... Think I'll sip a few brew, nibble on some shrooms and trot down for a look hahah.. I mean, why not? Hahah

Jealous.

Sure you don’t want to stay and talk about Carter on the top PP?

@feds you have a point about sending clappers at JC. Let’s do that all preseason and see if we can’t get him a ticket to LTIR

I always thought DOC might develop into that for us.

Also, to respond to your earlier response to me; I'd love DOC to get that top 6 spot. It's not that far fetched. Hopefully he's had a good summer and puts together a great camp and pre season.

- MattStrat

Hopefully DOC sees the opportunity in front of him and comes in hungry. I'll be happy if he's at least third line. Still curious if 3C is an option if Eller isn't up for it.

Do you watch the Pens power play? They literally just cycle the puck at the top of the circles for a minute 45 then make a cross ice pass that doesn’t work. Guentzel always leaves the net to go join the cycle. Having a guy that won’t leave the front of the net to become another option to cycle the puck too is addition by subtraction. This pp doesn’t need more hands or skill or shots. It needs simplified and pucks to the net. Wayne Simmonds did it in Philly.
- Grinder47

I think a big part of the problem has always been Letang. He's hesitant to shoot, so teams can cheat towards Malkin. And he doesn't always put the puck in his wheelhouse for a one-timer anyways. This should hopefully be a big area where EK improves them.

If Jake is only missing about 5 games, the net front job is his regardless. I used to argue for a guy who screened better than Guentzel, but I'll admit he's gotten a lot better.

Luv to b talking about Jeff Carter on August 18th, the year of our Lord 2023.

Pretty much keeping the Carter talk alive is my ride home from work pass time.

Is Accari actually a center? If so that's the route I would go for 3c for now and put Eller on the 4th line. So with what we have now I would do these in preseason:
DOC-Accari-Nylander
Nieto-Eller-Carter/Anybody.

Besides like 1 game I’ve never really seen him as anything but underachieving and quite the wuss for his build. Dude should be bullying guys in the corner.

The penguins generate shots on the PP at a league average rate, but they are elite at making sure those shots are quality chances. They are top 5 in scf per 60 and top 3 in hdcf per 60. Id say their biggest issue is that terrible drop pass and getting into the zone.

Kessel was really good at controlled zone entries and we miss him there. Hornqvist was the best in the league at winning 50/50 battles for pucks dumped in. I'm hoping EK brings the puck control for better zone entries.

I forget the game but he scored a great goal, then next shift he dummied a guy with a great hit. Then went back into his shell.

Kessel was also just great at being a RH shot other teams had to respect so they didn't have to just guard one side of the ice

He's a center. Eller all but said he was told he would get first crack at 3C. Accari was likely brought in at 4C. Them switching at some point I suppose could be an option.

But I'm also of the opinion Accari is bad, just hits and scores a few.

He was the PP QB for those seasons. He just ran it from the half wall instead of the point.

Yea I was kinda under the impression that maybe he could be a scoring/hitting bottom 6 winger like a Mcginn maybe?

Well I meant more like when Mcginn was on that hot goal scoring streak he had, but other than that it was pretty bland. Let's hope for like a Tanev/ Mcginn combo hahaha

McGinn-Carter-Kap is the worst constructed line in the history of hockey. They should all get together and curb stomp Sullivan for the waste of time they spent together.

That’s an easy way to look at it. I wonder how anyone with an NHL coaching job could put them together then bury them in their own end like some kind of shut down line. All comes back to the root of the main problem. Sullivan is a terrible hockey mind and coach.

I mean I only remember Teddy as the other bottom 6 guy, don't even know who the other 2 were. Hextall didn't exactly give Sully great options.

The options at center were Carter, Teddy, and Poehling. The wings were Kap, McGin, Heinen, Arch. I'm not sure how you make a decent combo out of that.
