The options at center were Carter, Teddy, and Poehling. The wings were Kap, McGin, Heinen, Arch. I'm not sure how you make a decent combo out of that. - MickV
Oh yea, that's (frank)ing atrocious |

Heinen-Poehling-Carter
McGinn-Teddy-Archibald.
Archibald-Carter-Poehling.
Archibald-Teddy-Heinen
The point is the current bench cruiser of the Penguins came up with the worst combo and then treated them like a shutdown line for 89 percent of last season.

I mean they are all vanilla crap ass players besides Archi and Carter is too old to carry them. |

So when assembling a lineup it’s not the coaches job to figure out the best combinations possible? No matter the players available? Sullivan fails to make the best of his lineup for 5 years. The lineups themselves won in 16/17. It’s a damn shame Sullivan gets any credit. All he did was call up his favorite players in Wilks and JR did the rest. |

I'm not saying Sully is void of faults. Seems most coaches get like that the longer they are around. (Bylsma did the same thing) I just don't think any combination would have been good, it would have been like shuffling the deck chairs on the Titanic. |

Mario had the best hands of anyone. He stole the puck off some guy named Bourque on his first shift and continued doing things like that for years, probably could still do it today.
Sullivan sucks.
Murphy was the best power play quarterback we ever had, in my opinion. We've had some good ones: Murphy, Gonchar, and Carlisle were the best. Justin Schultz wasn't bad. I consider Letang as an average NHL QB.

I know this is blasphemy, but Letang is a below average QB. He is (was) a great player but never really good at QBing a PP. Malkin and Kessel were way better.
Mario had the best SKILL of anyone ever. But as far as fast/deceptive hands, Kovalev was way better, and he's light years from Datsyuk and Forsberg. |

Gonchar was great. Not sure I've seen another dman hold the puck in the zone better than Murphy. It was freakish how well he did that. |

It's a damn shame the foot injury held Forsberg back from playing longer. Did you hear him talk about it in chicklets? I think it was just this past winter when he was on. |

I forgot to mention that the game plan is also for every line to play like Sid. No player has ever put on a penguins sweater and been as bad at their job as Mike Sullivan has been at his since the first 1/4 season he coached. It needed to be addressed and it wasn’t. |

Wasn’t Datsyuk’s best season like 60 pts? |

Yes, if you don't count all the seasons where he had more. |

What do you mean? lol
He had 22 points in 33 games before he was hurt last year: 2.3 p/60
Year before he had 52 in 78: 2.2 p/60
Year before that 33 in 47: 2.5 p/60
He was still playing at the same level the last 3 years, he just got hurt last year.

I guess I was just thinking of the years where people were saying he was better than Sid but he has to be defensive. He had a few almost elite point totals. Never really paid much attention to him. |

Honestly the guys coming in the league get more and more pusillanimous. If he plays out his contract he should just be able to do whatever he wants. |

Letang's speed is what makes him an outstanding player. He really can't utilize that on the power play. He never should be your first option to QB a PP.
Mario's reach was what made his puck handling second to none. You also need quick hands to be able to do some of the things he did. Maybe he didn't have the fastest hands, but he didn't to. |

Do people just make this stuff up? How in the world is Letang unrated in PK? I get he wasn't first over the boards, but he was 4th on the team in 4v5 time.
Finishing at 95% is just ludicrous. |
