Berger needs to bury all his bitterness.
Which should be easy for him to do - as he's an assistant to a funeral director (note: not an assistant funeral director - assistant to a funeral director). - Atomic Wedgie
I have clicked on his blog exactly one time and it was terrible writing.
His shtick is to say something outlandish and stupid about the leafs to get petty clicks.
It is the equivalent of a homeless man asking for spare change on the side of a street, but at least you have some empathy for the homeless man. |

It's a good and fair contract.
Not the brimstone and fire contract the few depressed and gloomy negative Nancy's would like you to believe.
Not the rainbows and unicorns type contract the few deluded positive Pete's would like you to believe.
Fair contract for both. |

From a pure on ice perspective, the allure of Matthews, Mcdavid, Marner and Nylander with JT waterskiing behind them would be pretty awesome.

Maybe you Bruins fans don't notice cuz your superstars get better with age but generally things get tricky for athletes after 30/31 so I don't see the short term as a bad thing. - The Law
Fair point.
I think it’s even earlier than 30/31. With that said, typically the higher end players age a lot better. Plus what will the cap be in 5 years and how much could that inflate his next deal.
All in all, who cares, you got your star signed |

I think McJesus 100% loves the thought of playing for the Leafs, but I think the only way he leaves Edmonton is if they continue to fail.
I think it's probably likely he re-signs. Be amazing if he doesn't, though. - GreatGigInTheSky
If he makes it to free agency, you better believe he wil be a Leaf with that being said, I truly doubt he Leafs Edmonton

Who the (frank) cares.
As long as the leafs don't have dead cap like most teams it is possible. |

Not chirping and you have a very odd definition of "pooping on another team".
To repeat, Matthews is a great player and he signed a good deal that is fair to him and fair to the team. Pervert that any way you want... - Nasty_Duck
Bud re read what you type. You mentioned his injury, you mentioned leafs fans better hope he plays better and so on.
Stop being a troll and let it go. You are making backhanded comments and it’s obvious. You’re not fooling anyone eh. |

Guys and teams don't win until they do. They usually lose a bunch of times and then they win. |

Man, McJesus on the Leafs would be (frank)ing amazing.
Guaranteed McJesus' penalties drawn will be cut in half, though. |

Good contract for Matthews and for the Leafs.
Cap will go close to $96m next year as escrow clawback comes to an end.
There is enough money to pay Nylander and maintain the existing roster until the Tavares contract concludes and the Leafs get significant cap relief.
Younger up and coming teams (eg., NJ Devils) are locking all their young talent into long term deals ($8m x 8). This poses some difficulty for older teams like Leafs as the bench mark salaries of first line players end up costing $3 to $4m more.
It will impose some limitations on a team's ability to retain quality 3rd line depth players. Maybe not a huge issue in regular season. But, significant for playoffs when depth is so much more important. - spatso

Getting ready to go camping - got all the stuff out, going to start packing the car (leaving right after a 2 pm meeting).
Of course the dog knows something is up, so she's all franking over me - wants to make sure she isn't left behind.
It's kinda cute, but it's hellish annoying. |

Sportsnet has $92 million by 2025-26, but I trust Spatso more. Dude has been pretty much correct about everything Leafs-related.

Nothing I said was taking a shot at the player or the team.
The injuries of course have an impact on the value of his contract. If he's often injured and not putting up points because of that, a replacement needs to come in. That replacement obviously will not have the same level production so - it lowers the value of his contract.
You can call it trolling all you want, but you are wrong.

It's going up $10ish million in the next few years. |

Escrow clawback has absolutely no effect on the salary cap.

Taking the dog.
The very last thing I'll do before we hit the road is transfer her food and dishes into the travel container - it has to be the absolute last thing done, because once she sees that happen, she goes franking nuts. |

My gf's mini schnauzer has to be distracted by a kibble ball thrown into a room before we leave. But then she started to get wise to that and get the drama shakes if she saw preparations to leave. So we upped the ante to a peanut butter bucket as a distraction. Very smart dog.

Friedman on 32TP: “What is Marner’s next number? Because he was the closest one to Matthews. When Matthews signed for 11.634 AAV all the sudden Marner became close to an $11M player, so now Matthews’ number is 13.25, what’s Marner’s number? Is it 13.249999?”

Get one of your daughters to take the dog for a walk. Easy way to keep the puppy in the dark. Or is walking the god solely your job? |
