I thought Sundin made it for sure but he's just under 1000 points with the Leafs.

Ironically his jersey number away from it. Great players have played, but we're missing the legacy players of the 70-80-90's that really define hockey as we know it.

Now Matthews and Marner will both likely get 1000 as Maple Leafs.

My favourites are the low key troll types (Habs/Bruins/ducks) who will passive aggressively chirp - the backhanded stuff like a mild compliment but then point out injury or an off year and so on - then playing innocent or confused why Leafs fans would chirp them back and tell them their trolling is soft. Those are the best ones to read. Pretending to be the smartest in the room as if nobody can figure it out.

Ex: Matthews signed an extension, pretty decent numbers. Do you guys think he will get hurt again or have another year (of 40goals and fantastic defensive game ha)and I thought he would want to sing for life with Toronto. You think he’s trying to maximize his contracts?

…that nonsense. Nerds.

- Big23Questions

LOL - still going on about that.

saying he's Not underpaid = trolling.

I think you're just mad because I gave thumbs down to your post saying that Matthews is the best overall player in the NHL. He certainly is not so long as McJesus is playing in the NHL.

Matthews is signed for 5 years. If he didn’t sign we lose him for nothing.

This is a good thing people.

I didn't like the Kadri trade, or the Reaves signing particularly. But the Shanny era has been the best time to be a Leaf fan since the 1960s so I'm mostly just enjoying the ride.

One of the best players of his generation is gonna be a Leaf for 12 years. I can dig it.

Two things can be true at once. Going for a shorter term deal allows him to get another kick at the can AND he signed this deal for less than he could have pulled out of the Leafs or somewhere else as a free agent.
- Canada Cup

Pretty certain he could have gotten 14-15 million for 4 years in FA.

The sky would be the limit. The sharks offered JT near 13 way back when.

Waaa

Waaa

Matthews sighed two 4 and 5 year deals until he is 31

Mcdavid signed 8 years.

If both leave at the end of their contracts matthews will have committed 3 years longer.

The only difference this perspective of shorter term deals is fans like you who like to whine.

I'm hoping the next few years are more enjoyable than whatever it is these last frustrating years have been. My position as a Leafs fan is informed by being a lifelong LFC supporter. Football fans tend to be very demanding and critical, much more than the type of Leafs fans in these parts anyway. I get that my approach is not everyone's cup of tea, but I do find some Leaf fans incredibly defensive and agreeable to almost anything the club does.

That time when that guy kicked his own stick to take a shot in an exhibition game shootout and scored was pretty neat. I think that was Jeff Finger.

Hockey is definitely a sport of ups and downs. The same team can get bounced in the first round and then win the Cup, or vice versa. Barely make the playoffs, get to the finals. Leafs are in as good a shape as anyone, so let's fire it up and see what happens.
