One thing I remember is when Brian Burke signed Beauchemin and Komisarek, and he stated that those signings gave the Leafs the deepest D corps in the Eastern Conference. In retrospect that assessment was overly optimistic.

Looking forward to Leon taking 7mil to save the Coilers.

Also it's absolutely embarrassing and a testament to how amazing the GTA fanbase is that the Leafs are still the biggest hockey fandom in the world and don't have a single (frank)ing player to have scored 500 goals or 1000 points with the franchise.

The Auston Matthews ask on an eight-year extension was in the range of Connor McDavid's 16.67% of cap hit. So a ~$13.8M AAV based on projected $83M cap.

so

$13.8 x 8 in 2019 would've been $110.4M over 8 years
The 5 (2019) + 4 (2023) year extensions total out to $111.2M

worked out in the leafs favor going 2 shorter deals.

One of my favs too. I have one in a goalie cut that I wear on the ice sometimes but I've also used it or given it to someone I was with to wear OVER a winter jacket at 2 outdoor games (Winter Classic at the Big House in Michigan) and the Centennial Classic in Toronto.

Comes from two types, really.

The first is the fans of other teams that downplay everything Leafs. Just looking for something to try and poop on.

And the other is the people pretending to be Leafs fans, saying the same poop. Thinking that since they're "Leafs fans", it gives their words more validity.
