I wasn't aware that they were doing that. Is it specific games? Because I don't think NHL does it (yet).

That’s not a thing in nhl

Oh yea you can definitely gamble on 1v1 games.

I'm not the gambling type so that's probably why I'm not aware.

Who the (frank) spends money on a video game?? I remember the good ole days when the only money you spent was just for the actual game.

Every game has become a pay to win circus. Theyve taken the model that phone apps have well established and put it on steroids in the video game market.

EA is one of the worst. Not just with their sports games. But there are plenty of great games out there with no microtransactions

I mean i get all that, but for myself, i couldn't imagine spending money for the game, and then having to buy stuff after you bought the game.

Even worse was Toyota trying to start charging you a monthly fee to use the remote start on their cars

It's best to avoid those games. There's plenty that don't but it's becoming so common.

I mean if people are gonna pay, god bless em, I just couldn't imagine doing it. Yeah, because turning a key to start the car is sooo god damn difficult.

Let’s say you like to play nhl online and you’ve been doing it for years. all of a sudden they throw in pay to win microtransactions and it’s an arms race. Most customers will spend at least some $ to keep playing the game they’ve been playing for years. I say we tar and feather those greedy (frank)s

Unfortunately, playing against the AI can only go so far before it gets boring. You want to play against other people. There was a time where you pick a team and play, and that still occurs however because of social media and "influencers", people make a living out of playing these online modes and pulling packs. The ones with a lot of followers dont pay out of pocket, people subscribe and watch their videos, they make money from the host site based on the amount of clicks, subscriptions and followers they get. They get paid, if their big enough, by advertisers, and ultimately they make money from the people watching them.

They're not the only ones. Mazda is trying to force you to use a buggy app on a 60k vehicle and there is no way to use the fob to start the car while within range.

Toyota's that have remote start, you can still use the fob and hit lock 3 times like normal in most cases. I bet that is starting to change but who knows at this point?

I haven't played video games in ages. Fun as a kid, but no time now, and not much desire to start

It’s nice to have when you need to either warm the car up in the winter or cool it off in the summer but I’d never pay a monthly fee, just out of principal

On the flip side, if the consumer said, (frank) you, they would stop adding the extra charges

I don't think anyone is making money off of NHL. The player base seems to shrink every year. I don't see how anyone has a viable stream playing an NHL game.

Its not just NHL, those same people do Fifa, NBA, MLB, Madden, etc... theyre not limited to just 1 sport. You have to do them all if you want to have a large, successful fanbase that watches your videos. These people also do 1st/3rd person shooter games and etc...
