I am about 20 minutes north of Tampa. We are well inland, so storm surge is not an issue. The Tampa area is expected to dodge the bullet again, barring any unexpected changes in the storm's track. We may get some winds that result in power outages. It's hot and humid AF here, so we don't want any prolonged outages. If the power does go out, we have a generator and a portable AC unit. We'll wall off the living room with blankets, put the generator on the back porch, and sleep in the cool living room.

Too much wine, not enough bourbon. I should have made another liquor store run, but it's rainy and I'm feeling like the wine and weed will get me through the storm.

I also forgot to recharge my powerbank. It's on the charger now and should be fully charged by the time the power thinks about going out.

Nope, just a big worksite type beast that makes a ton of noise. Sounds an aircraft engine. The neighbors will love it.

True story, my wife's cousin has one of those Generac systems that is supposed to power their entire house. Spent thousands on it. Big hurricane comes through, knocks out the power, and the Generac didn't activate. They couldn't get it to come on. Long story short, they had to go a couple of days without power while the Generac people sorted it out. Not exactly what they paid top dollar for. This was several years ago, so maybe it's different now.

We got hit pretty good last September. Beforehand I was quite excited by the prospect of it but when it hit about 3am I almost wet my pants. The power was out almost immediately and the house sounded like it was coming apart at the seams and this went on for hours. The next day the neighbourhood looked like a spinach bomb went off. Ten days without electricity.

Parents are just North of Wesley Chapel (NE Tampa) and brother just south of there and sister just west of there. Another sister in St. Pete's ...
