Isles miss on another UFA? No way. Those darn taxes.

Nobody knows if they "missed out" on Tatar. They could've never even engaged with him.

This is true chief. Could be like JG.

I’d rather look at internal options at this point.

The Islanders at this point have no other option but to look internally.

Yep they didn’t…

Per @FriedgeHNIC: F Tomas Tatar is signing with COL.

After talking with #Isles GM Lou Lamoriello Monday, it seems that he wants to see youngsters really push the vets this camp (opening on Pageau's left), as he said prospects like Dufour and Iskhakov "are close".

I really don’t have any faith in either of these kids getting any real ice time this season unless Lou is absolutely forced to do so bcs of injuries. If I had to guess I would think neither are close to competing for a spot on the roster. Kind of a bizarre comment to me.

You would think Ishakov with his skating skills would be closer than Dufour. It's really tough with young players and the Islanders. Lou seems to like them cooking forever in the minors.

Meh, I wonder if he was just saying goodbye to LI. He's only 34.

Yeah In fairness I’m not exactly sure where either of these kids are in their development but from what I see/know they aren’t close. I don’t get the impression they are close unless Dufour took a huge step unbeknownst to anyone besides Lou and ishakov is somehow plug and play. That’s of course factoring in this is the islanders that doesn’t exactly give prospects to long of a leash when it comes to opportunities with the big club. I’m not saying that’s the wrong approach either I don’t think any of these kids are that great to begin with to warrant a long look.

The problem probably is nobody wanting the guy unfortunately for him so far at least…

Ishakov's shootout skills alone would help the Islanders and they can sure use his speed. Just seems like other teams are calling up players sooner now days. I could be wrong. Ishakov is also 23 and not 18. Just think it's time for a different approach with prospects.

Yeah I don't know. Maybe some news comes out that he signed somewhere else later today, but as of now he's still a UFA so I'm not sure

I figured some team would take him, even if it is for a much lower salary. Maybe he won't accept that or a reduced role.

Yeah I would/would've guessed Anaheim on a pretty minimal deal. Good vet to mentor a lot of their young talent, desirable place to live, etc... Seemed like it would check a lot of boxes for both sides.

Bailey mentoring kids on how to float all over the ice and let other team skate right past him?

This is true. I just do not understand why the Hawks did not want Bailey anywhere near Bedard?

Maybe who knows but I think it has more to do with what everyone saw the last couple of seasons from him.

Maybe he's holding out for a job in the Isles front office.

If Wang was still the owner then Josh could be assistant GM to Garth.
