I mean you can't just draft 5'9 guys with decent speed that will become limited use 3rd liner, sometimes you gotta take a shot with a big boy and hope he's a late bloomer

My thoughts on the Habs draft "documentary".

1: Felt like it was shorter than last year and we got less information about their thinking process but it was still great.

2: I mentioned yesterday that Fowler was the 3rd best goaltender in that draft imho but you can tell some scouts put the actual results (the man stops pucks for sure) vs a goaltender with maybe a more impressive toolset like Gajan or Hrabal into the conversation, which was great. Love that we got him.

3: Florian Xhekaj a unicorn? I get he's a late bloomer and all but unless his offensive numbers go wayyy up, I expect very little except a bottom 6 forward at best.

4: Too bad they didn't include parts of the conversations trading the two picks for Newhook.

5: I'm guessing the "russian D" they kept mentionning is Bogdan Konyushkov. Just found it funny Gorton didn't even try naming him.

Let's see how the unicorn develops this year, they obviously watched him closely and know way more than we do on him, he obviously needs to take a big step forward this year in the OHL, his team should be a bit better, they were in year 1 of their rebuild last year.

I guess that's because they didn't want to include any footage where they discuss players that currently aren't part of the habs organization anymore, which would explain in part why this kind of documentary can be so short since there are a lot of conversations they don't want to share.
