Likely still a third-line center. He earned his new role of Captain at the end of last season and in the playoffs. He was a force and was the first guy to come to the defense of his teammates.

The other logical choice was JoMo , but would Bowness really want Jomo to start standing up for players the way Lowry can. Let JoMo concentrate on what he does best without worrying about that extra role. Lowry can afford to take those penalties, Jomo cannot.

As for Scheif. Without a signed extension it's obvious that he can't be named Captain. At the same time you can't take the A away while he remains a Jet. He's definitely earned that letter. The only other choices that made any sense for an "A" was maybe Ehlers ...but I don't think it would have been a great choice. Helle deserves an "A" but goalies can't wander around the rink and monitor conversations with the Refs, or fight for rulings. Vlardi....he's too new.
