Sully only knows how to coach the 2016 roster that had Phil kessel on the 3rd line and a 20 goal 4th line center. He’s been coaching that team since and it’s a bigger part of this teams short comings than anything else. But it gets ignored for some reason. - Grinder47
Sullivan was not a bigger problem than the roster construction. You are wrong. |

Except for you know the very next season when he had Kessel on a 2nd line with Malkin and made massive adjustments after Letang broke his neck. Yah, Sully just stayed the same... |

who was the 20 goal 4th line center? That's some weird recollection you've got there, almost like you don't know what you're talking about.

I guess he means Cullen, who had 16 in the 2015/2016 season. Nice little round up to 20 hahaha

It would be interesting to see a whole line of young Matt Cookes set loose on this NHL. - Grinder47

Its almost as if they had more success in 2016 because the roster was constructed better hahaha...hell, even in 2022, missing top line winger and two starting goalies, they were looking fantastic vs the Rangers until Sid went down....and Sully elevated Carter to 2C...I'll never forget those first 5 to 10 mins after Sid went down.... Just total chaos to the Pens structure and play on the ice.
Last season was just a really badly put together roster + missing 3 and 4 starting D and Jarry a lot of nights...missed playoffs by a point....

I feel like Sullivan has lost the room and rebounded twice. I do think there’s a solid chance that his shelf life here has expired and it’s time to move on but Grinder’s axe with this is ground to dust at this point. |

Sullivan has always been a problem. It’s just sunken so low in the last 4 years. |

More than 15 less than 20 = 20. Can you elaborate what Sullivan does than makes him a good coach? |

Poor Brian Boyle gets in the next game goes right after Trouba with a clean hit and blows out his knee. I mean the lack of response from the team after that happened to Crosby is a Sullivan problem. The team was rattled and instead of standing up for themselves and their captain the shrunk into a shell. |

That when we knew Carter was really cooked, he had good wingers, but blew ass still. |

1-9 single digit scorer
10-19 double digit scorer
20-29 is a 20 goal scorer
That was some terrible reasoning. |

He scored at 2.0 pts/60 at 5v5. That’s too 6 rate. Ice time matters. - Victoro311
Smallish sample but guess it's something so fair enough. I'd agree Nylander has more scoring ability, but I'd still take DOC as the third guy for the size/defensive/board work without feeling I sacrificed much skill. But agree to disagree, we'll see what happens |

Since one is a LW and one a RW maybe they can play on the same line together. |

Well the only way we can get Tatar is if Pitlick goes so, they go hand in hand. - 668710
No lol get creative. Pitlick is not our worst roster player. |

Creating a hockey roster is absolutely about who's a better hockey player, what the hell are you even talking about? lol - j.boyd919
Just saying Pitlick could be of good use. Use your creativity and find trades so you can open up cap space for a "supposedly Tatar signing for just $1M". |

If we are talking 3rd line yes, and I'm rooting for it. Pens need something like that to happen for their third line
But the original conversation was about who would you put in a top six line if you had to. |

We can't get creative. We would have to get rid of 2 players instead of 1. So it's pretty simple. Carter's contract is what is not allowing us to make a better bottom 6 overall. |

No I said all we could afford was 1mil with sending Pitlick packing, if he wants more then it's a moot point because we can't afford him. This is reminding me of the Tyler Kennedy/Jagr decision. Shero kept Kennedy over Jagr and well one was way better than the other lol. I'm not comparing Jagr to Tatar by any means, just an example of keeping a lesser player over getting a better player and how it can hurt the team. |
