I never have moved goalposts.
I’ve been one of the few people throughout the entire offseason sitting here thinking “hey we are pretty good, why not us ?”.
The same people here that say I drank the koolaid are the same that called me a crappy fan for cheering for the team to tank when the roster sucked a$$.
Now our tanking is bearing fruit, and we have a very talented roster, and now I’m the simp I guess.
I can never win with you people lol |

I had heard it a bit differently that after testing the day of they thought no surgery would be required. Either way, turns out Appert was right...won't miss significant time. Life is back to being just a little poope. - QuinnFan

The Sabres plan to keep Matt Savoie off the ice for a few weeks while their medical staff takes a conservative approach to treating his injured left shoulder, sources confirmed to The Buffalo News.
The team is optimistic that Savoie can avoid surgery.

Not terrible news, not the best. I'll take it at this point. One good thing about having all these guys is an injury to him doesn't throw a wrench in everything |

Wasn't this supposed to be a no excuses offseason, that then was moved to a no excuses 2024 trade deadline? |

Iirc Pittsburgh could have clinched like 3 times and couldn't do it. Of those 4 who gets significantly better? Florida could return to form, Pittsburgh making a last push with their core and added Karlson, I don't hear much about the Islanders but their system is what will keep them in games but I don't expect a dramatic increase.
Wins against these other bubble teams will be especially important this year. Just win most of the games where you're better than the other team and should win and you'll be fine. No going 0-3 to Philly. |

I said at times, go look at there records when we where sh!tting the bed, I doubt any team took advantage of are losing streaks cause they weren't tearing it up. Those teams struggled at certain parts of there season that helped the Sabres stay close. |

Only great top 5 GM's need 5 years to make playoffs - sbroads24
To be fair, the leafs are a great example of selling the future to make the playoffs. This type of management isn’t built for sustained success or long term growth. It’s wam bam thank you man thinking when I prefer to make the bed rock all night with the rocket.
KA is setting us up to have the long term sex fest with the 10 rather than a one night stand with a bush pig from Lockport.
Even if it doesn’t work out, it is a prudent move. Not everyone wants to get VD from the tramp. |

Who is making excuses? What excuses are they making? The goal this season is playoffs and they've decided to go with the same team plus a year and they think that can do playoffs. If they don't make it I'll be upset because they didn't do more and bet on the wrong idea to get there. But what more do you want? I can make you a hypothetical goalie trade that doesn't do anything or I can talk about the current players and the current team and how I think this year could shape up for them to have a good year but also means we're putting hopes in unproven players. This is the team we have, they're not making any big moves regardless of what Ek tries to tell us. KA has said it multiple times.
So that said, I'm excited to see the scrimmage because I do want to see how some of these young guys look compared to the vets. |

Islanders had a worse last 10 games and ended up clinching. Pittsburgh needed 1 more win or another Islanders loss I believe. I dont see that as falling apart. Their lineup was baaaad. |

Who’s making excuses ?
Like I said, I’m optimistic they are a wildcard team this year,
Would have I liked him to do more ? Absolutely.
But it needs to make sense for this season and beyond at the same time.
We can all acknowledge that the Bills have to retool due to the cap this coming offseason yet everyone on here still doesn’t realize why Adams is proceeding with caution when it comes to the Sabres and trying to maximize their window.
Any jamoke can move the sun and the stars for a playoff appearance.
Did we wait 12 franking years for a team that can be a playoff team ? Or a team that can possibly host a parade downtown Buffalo ?
Believe me, there is a huge difference between the two.
I don’t want to be one of the 16 playoff teams. I want to be one of the 5 maybe 6 with a legitimate cup chance.
If it’s such a joke to not making the playoffs, I don’t see why it’s such a glaring accomplishment to make the playoffs.
Being just good enough didn’t do Jack $hit for the Minnesota Wild or Montreal Canadians the last decade with all of those playoff appearances.
Meanwhile the Avs were a joke for several years before catching fire the last few seasons and getting their cup.
Stop griping about a playoff drought that has no relevance on the 2023/2024 Sabres season ffs

It is however an accomplishment to set the NHL record for consecutive playoff-less seasons. That's tough to do

Cause some of us have pointed out the fact that the off-season was slow and boring and nothing happened.
And then they throw in a name like Matt Duchene who wouldnt have come here anyways cause he wants to try to win a cup.

You could add any individual skater to that roster and it won't make a lick of difference because it's all system and the system is boring. It's also successful and has made the playoffs, but I just don't think anything on that roster or pipeline is going to come in and give a noticable difference compared to last year. If I'm an Islanders fan I'm very worried long term, present looks okay but the future just looks blah. |
