Players only kick the puck as a defensive tactic? Is that your position? - kingcong39
It’s a defensive maneuver imo yes.
Might as well count them when they deflect off a hand, then. Just swat it down into the net. |

Wow really got me with this one, so wise. The thing that stays on the ground goes near feet and gets kicked, how intense.
No.
I equated it properly. You have a stick and a puck. Both touch the ground. You kick it as a defensive tactic, and to score on a defensive maneuver is ridiculous.
The NFL football stays in the air or off the ground 99% of the time. To catch it off a bounce is the equivalent in it’s sport to kicking a puck in for a goal. It was a proper analogy.
Get fûcked. - Jet Jaguar BD
You never head the ball in the net because it stays on the ground. You can’t head the puck in the net or hit it off your shoulder or hip. |

Even if on the offensive, using your skate on the puck is a defensive measure.
It’s in direct response to a resistance of some kind. Defensive. No one goes down the ice dribbling a hockey puck with their feet. It’s a last resort maneuver. It doesn’t matter how often or effective it is, it’s not a desirable action. |

But your point about the things on the ice like puck, stick, feet (my addition) being legit tools is a valid one. Hands are no bueno. |

Nhl is starved for more goals, it would cut down on instant replay and the delays during the game.

Tim Connolly, among many other players, have exhibited using their skate only as a last resort is not true, especially on offense. |

Anybody notice the picture of Anderson watching training cano with savioe?
It's almost like gerbe said " Anderson is gonna help pick his replacement " or something along those lines.
Looks kinda like the Sabres still want Anderson around the franchise....... maybe for some help..... |

How many guys really stick around though?
I think gerbe was on to something.
Has Anderson officially retired? I'm sure he's itching for another shot. |

I bet the cost wouldn't be high, wonder what he would fetch in FA. |

Man, I usually mostly lurk and don't engage folks here, for a number of reasons. Among those reasons are the ease of which most get butthurt when someone gives them a jab or, God forbid, uses logic to point out perceived flaws (or emotional overreactions) in their arguments. I really did not expect you, of all people, to be so sensitive. Duly noted.
I am finding it kinda exciting getting a rise out of HB-ers who I see having a history of being, shall we say, forceful. In your case, erratic would be a better word...maybe spirited if one was being generous.
Now, if you really want to tickle your taste buds, I make a killer marinade for flank steak. Get some good quality soy sauce, about a quarter cup, and whisk in 3 tablespoons olive oil. Add 1 Tbsp rice wine vinegar and 3 Tbsp brown sugar...I prefer dark but light is ok. Then 1 teaspoon each ground fresh ginger, oregano, onion powder, garlic powder, black pepper. No need for salt cuz of the soy sauce. Soak that steak at least 4 hours but no more than 24, pat it dry, and grill over medium-high for 6 minutes per side (for a 2-3 pound flanker). Flank has to be medium rare, no more. Let rest and cut against the grain. The juice and blood that ends up on the platter is liquid friggin gold.
Kicking at a puck is not strictly a "defensive maneuver". A player's skates are on the ice along with the puck and stick. How many times a game does a player kick the puck forward? - LandlordTom

If your stick is tied up, any kicking motion in response to that is defensive, since you are being attacked by an opposing player. It isn’t desirable to kick a 3 inch saucer with a 1/4 inch stilt and no person in their right mind would do it unless it was in response to the puck not doing/going where it was expected to or, the apparatus for handling that object was obstructed in some way.
It’s a reactionary move. This isn’t soccer. What happens when a player decides to stomp down on the puck and slide his skate over the goal line? |
