It was the old fake trade request - Buff36
Adams acknowledged he’s exploring the trade market for the Swede, who has one year and $4.75 million left on his contract. Activity, of course, always heats up around the NHL Draft, which starts tonight at Bridgestone Arena.
“It’s all really positive with Vic,” he said. “We’re open to kind of looking at everything. That’s what I told him and promised him that I would do and see what’s out there.”

Pettersson has 323 points in 325 games before his 25th birthday.
Can’t think of a player who did more with less than Pettersson last year.
He’d be the Sabres best forward if acquired tomorrow. - Swedish_Jesus
Like I said very good player, now go look at Timo until he was 25. Basically the same, think Timo played like 20 games his rookie year.I would love Pettersson, but it's gonna cost |

Pettersson has 7 less points than Timo and has played in 147 less games.
He’ll surpass Timo by the end of the year.
And that’s not a knock on Timo either, Elias is a special player.

I didn't even look at this year, only till Timo was 25, other than Pettersson explosion this year there is basically nothing different about them in there first 4 years. I would take either player, just one wouldn't have cost as much. |

So they're playing it right, they'll try to move the disgruntled player but not for peanuts, especially after Quinn went down. If they can get him some PP time early, pad those stats, they may very well find a taker before the end of the year.
I'm starting to like Adams again, stagnancy critiques be damned. |

One of the most underrated players in the game. By all accounts he deserves to be thought of as a top10 player in the entire league. Scoring 100pts on a poope team is something. |

Now, factor in that Pettersen doesn't have a broken neck and requiring a surgery never performed on a hockey player before.
I say throw in Olofsson..should be enough |

Not to mention how good he was defensively on top of that.

while getting a pettersson or meier type would be a huge addition
it's a cap era and we can't afford a 9 mil a year long term deal when paying for a lot of crap at 2 mil here 3 mil there

Jost, Olofsson, Girgensons, Okposo, E.Johnson, Comrie are all UFA’s.
Mitts, Krebs, Joker, Bryson, Stillman, UPL would be RFA’s
Apart from Greenway they aren’t tied to anyone in that criteria past this season. |

Largely true...however, having a plethora of good young players on ELC's and Bridge Deals help to counter that.
Skinner, Tage, Cozens, Dahlin and Power combine for about $44m give or take a couple $M.
(Assuming $10.5m and $9M for Dahlin and Power). They really need to have 7 or 8 (?) guys on those ELC / Bridges ... for say a total of $18m+/-. Combined, 12 or 13 guys for a total of $62M could work...leaves about $26m for the remainder of the team...about $2.75 each in round dollars.
It is why trading for Helly or even Gibson now isn't realistic unless Adams gets his GMTM groove on. |

Sabres aren’t going to send a wrecking balls into their current cap situation.
Petersson would be an excellent add though. I rather pay him over Meier if both were options.

Is he under rated? I think most with a modicum of hockey knowledge say he’s an elite player.
I don’t know if he’s a bonafide top 5 center but he’s close |

Probably another high end prospect and an additional 1st rounder. Even then that it might not be enough - Swedish_Jesus
I think he's similar to jack eichel value, minus the ring.
We discounted jack because of the back issue.
You're talking
Mitts
Quinn
2024 1st
Plus
