Could very well breakout in the next year or 2. Definitely untapped potential there imo.

Brandon Montour was awful and then all of a sudden flicked a switch and led the Panthers d-men in points.

Joker to me is a third pairing guy but you never know with d-men as it does take time for guys to master the position

Smart move by Dahlin's Agent for 5 years though...gives him another shot at a top contract for another 5 or 6 year term.

Montour wasn't rushed to the NHL, played good his first couple years then was on some bad teams and was mismanaged.

Henri has been rushed/mismanaged from the get-go and has not had any luck with injuries'. I dont see him being a 70pt guy but I do feel there's untapped potential on both sides of the puck.

Especially with Strbak and McCarthy a few years away

I know you love your prospects, but mid-round D? These guys are 5 years away and they'll be fortunate if one amounts to anything. They can't factor into the decision on Joker.

Savoie looked completely lost with Amerks end of last year. I dont know how that would mean he is probably ready.

Why possibly have year 1-3 mittlefat when we can possibly have last year middlefat the first year Savoie makes the team.

He played like 6 minutes per game for 2 games, it's not liek he went pointless in 15 games there art the end of the year....

Like he’s generally fine as a 5/6 but he doesn’t have great skill you hope eventually translates

Henri has been rushed/mismanaged from the get-go and has not had any luck with injuries'. I dont see him being a 70pt guy but I do feel there's untapped potential on both sides of the puck.

What makes you say this? IMO, he was extremely polished at a young age and just hasn't improved. Just seems like a high floor, low ceiling player from the start.

Doesn't mean you toss him in the NHL after 30 games in the AHL. He wasnt going to learn and improve from the NHL. Its not a dev league.

And then hes traded. New franchise, system, etc.

How many coaches has he had here in the 4 years?

Add in the injury bug and its just has not been the best up bringing for what was a solid d prospect.

I don’t think he will ever pop off like Montour.

But I don’t think it’s out of the question that he can have a long NHL career as a complimentary d-man.

His metrics were average last year, could do a lot worse than average.

Most d-cores have at least 1 boat anchor in the backend

If he can get that bug off his back and get a full season under his belt, some consistency would do him good.

That's why Joker might even be more important, they are prospects, and maybe he keeps developing and takes the sting away if those 2 don't pan out. Yes I do like my prospects and Strbak is gonna play pro Hockey, it's just will he be a 4-5-6. But I truly believe if Johnson isn't traded that he will be Powers partner in 2 years.

I think people are way too quick to blame development when a player doesn't take the next step. Most of the time, they don't.

I think what happened with Thompson and to a lesser extent Montour and Ullmark has led to a belief among the fanbase that everyone will get good eventually if you just wait long enough.

In any case, Adams is testing that thesis with UPL and Jokiharju so we're about to find out.
