Krebs has this year to make his mark, or else he can very well find himself on the outside looking in.
Whether it’s in Buffalo or somewhere else, he will have a good NHL career. - Swedish_Jesus
With little to no value in the trade market. Why will he be good elsewhere but not in Buffalo, improper usage?

Kulich, Rosen, Kisakov and Neuchev are not playing tonight. Bummer. Very interesting that Neuchev isn't playing. |

no idea how you're inferring that.
Do you not like the idea of mixing in low cost prospects with veteran talent in the bottom 6? - TheSabresTaco
It would be cool to have a 4th line that is as talented as others teams 2nd lines.
Would probably mean we are a playoff team with Stanley Cup aspirations.
Which I believe is the goal |

First 2 responses kick the can down the road, using this coming season as another evaluation season.
Last ones infuses rookies into a roster, how many ?, while not altering expectations on the season? |

Alex Newhook just got dealt for two second rounders.
Kirby Dach and Alexander Romanov each hauled in more than I could have ever expected them garnering in a trade.
Krebs hasn’t exactly been given the best role to succeed, and another team may think they can help him realize his potential.

The battle in front of Krebs:
-Is he a 3C or 4C?
--Tage, Cozens have 1C and 2C locked up
- leaves the battle at 3C and 4C
- Mitts, is he a W or C?
-Jost, Savoie (NHL in '24-25), Kulich (NHL in '24-25), Ostlund NHL in '25-26), Kozak (NHL in '24-25/'25-26), Wahlberg (NHL in '25-26)
Yesterday I said that Krebs needs to have a 35 - 40 pt season this year, and even then he likely would be trade bait likely in a package for a player at a position of greater need...wherever that is.
I stand by that comment.
To stay, he may need to produce at Mitt's rate that he showed last season.

We have too many good players and it pisses me off 🤬 - Swedish_Jesus
That's not the point and you know it. The point is fitting them all in the puzzle. We can slow track a few of these guys, and there's a bunch probably 3 years away. But there's a large number that will be here in the next 2 years. You can only slow play it for so long. Just because we have a lot of them doesn't mean they don't loose value at a Certain point if there not properly given a shot because of the young players already in front of them. |

I wasn't clear so that's on me.
The guys we have coming up in the org today, guys like Kozak, Nadeau, Miedema, Cederqvist, you're probably waiting 2-3 years to get those guys in here. Clear bottom 6 guys fighting for NHL spots.
But asking questions like 'how many' is just a speculation conversation. I in no way, nor are the Sabres, considering this or any other year going forward a "development year". There will always be developing players unless you're the Penguins who simply chose to (frank)ing die in 3 years. But as far as a developing year for the entire team, that's done with.

Alex Newhook who played 2/3C in Colorado and won a Stanley Cup, traded after 3 seasons to improve the Avalanche
Kirby Dach, a 1C who was moved after 3 seasons of a failed rebuild in Chicago and it was a a lopsided hockey trade
Alex Romanov top4 defenseman, traded in a lopsided hockey trade
All these player have top line and playoff experience...these are the comps for Peyton Krebs, the 4C for the Buffalo Sabres for 1 season?
These are trades where up and coming teams paid a premium for the players and the GM's saw the value add for their respective rosters and moved on from the individual potential to improve the team |

If they're ready to play in the NHL, this team or an opposing team will find value in them. It's not the worst thing in the world to have too many quality assets.
He'll need to make some tough decisions eventually.

Understood, that's the way it should be, sacrificing NHL seasons to establish that probably isn't the only, or the most effective way to do so.
What happened last year with the goalie and defensive situation and the nothing burger of an offseason leads me to presume this coming season will be of the same mentality. |

I mean what is wrong with
Skinner Tallness Tuch
JJ Peterka Quinn
Benson Kulich Savoie
Rosen Kozak/Krebs Rousek
Maybe JJ or Quinn get beat out by someone on the 3rd line and they switch or as Skinner or Tuch happen to leave than and Savoie or Benson take that spot. Still have some nice talent coming up the line to fill areas. Still gonna have to move some players and use those assets to fill other short falls. Gonna be a lot in Rochester in the next 2 years. |

That's basically what I have been saying, great to have all these assets. But becomes a issue if not used right. Adams and Co. and with all these evaluations that will be critical are gonna have some long days ahead. |

What they did last year, and what they actually stated last year was a 'let's find out what we have' year. They actually said that.
This year that mentality has shifted to, it's time to win.
They're gambling a lot on Levi and I don't really understand why.

They are betting the season on him.
I sure hope you're right, keeping the same roster, overpaying an old dude and just switching the mentality to it's time to win did bump the GM into the top 10 ranking before even making the playoffs. It's wild the hype on this group.

It's a good curse, still doesn't mean there's not to many and they need to pick the right ones to keep and the right ones to trade. |
