love bill root.
Patrik Juhlin was a huge disappointment. Had a great Olympics. Shocked he never carved out an NHL career. |

A lot of Euro players back then had difficulty adjusting to the smaller NHL rinks and the clutch and grab physicality of 90s hockey. The adjustment is much easier today than it was then. |

After seeing him in the Olympics thought the flyers found a very nice player. He was one player I was exited about seeing over my decades of being a flyers fan.
Yeah the way it was played didn't help. He had the skill. Just couldn't put it together.

The NHL in the 90's barely looked like hockey... Euros must have come over and were like... WTF are you guys even doing to each other?? |

Watching those games now, it is almost startling the amount of water skiing, holding, hooking, and general obstruction was going on. A completely different game.

I loved 90’s Hockey but not for the play itself, Hockey has much improved from a visual standpoint. I did like more physicality though, but this isn’t it either. I felt like I’m the 90’s each team had at least two studs on their team.
Lindros/LeClair
Lemieux/Jagr
Sakic/Forsberg
Yzerman/Federov
Roenick/Amonte
Kariya/Selenne
Stevens/Neidermayer
Pronger/MacInnis
Etc
Maybe I’m wrong but I think league would benefit today if each team had a known stud. |

It's just sad thinking about how many skilled players who may have had great careers in a different era were left off rosters for dudes like Beukaboom, McAllister, Pilon, etc. because they couldn't fight thru all the crap. |

What was wrong with beakaboom? solid dman.
Plenty of guys in the 80's I bet went unnoticed because they were small or never provided a real chance. |

You mean like a Crosby/Malkin, Matthews/Marner, Stamkos/Kucherov, Mackinnon/Makar, Tkatchuk/Barkov, Tkatchuk/Stutzle? Plenty of teams with great players, just not the flyers. Real bad analogy, really bad |

I didn’t say duos were extinct, I said it felt like each team in the league had at least 2 studs. Does every team in the league today have at least two studs? Do you believe the power of the names you mention hold like the names in the 90’s? Congratulations on naming 6 duos in a 32 team league though. |

Watching the Youtube highlights of that TBL series in 1996 it is a wonder Lindros didn't have more concussions. Literal flying elbows. Lindros was not a saint in that series but TBL was out to hurt him. |

The All-Star Game in Tampa Bay was the first I’d ever watched as a kid. The fans in Tampa booed Lindros and I couldn’t understand why at the time. From there though, All-Star games are how I learned the players names. |

I was thinking that same thing when typing my previous post. Players hung on him so much he could have been considered a 250 HP Evinrude pulling the whole water skiing pyramid behind him.

Conngratulations on naming 8 duos in a 30 team league…. And yes, those names hold some serious weight that I mentioned. The intelligence you have is astonishing |

Just to add to the list. Toews/Kane, Kopitar/Doughty, Ovechkin/Backstrom, Giroux/Voracek, Weber/Suter, the Sedins, Chara/Bergeron, the 2010s certainly have had some great duos, and that’s not even mentioning additional players on these teams |

How? Do explain. Somehow me enjoying the 90’s as a kid because of the star power and feeling like each team had at least two is somehow stupid? |
