The original Senators franchise relocated to St. Louis, and played one season (1934-35) as the Eagles.

Then the league bought back the franchise and killed it.

So technically speaking, the league still owned the franchise.

Why the frank wouldn't the league say that they were reviving it and selling it to Bruce Firestone? Such a simple move, which would mean there was continuity, and the Senators could lay claim to 11 Stanley Cups.

Leafs missed playoffs 10 out of 11 seasons before making playoffs. They have had a really nice regular season run ever since. However, struggles in the playoffs can be directly correlated to the issues of team depth. Leafs pay their top 6 skaters 65% of cap. NJ Devils, the kids to catch, are paying 54% of cap to their top 6. Leafs have, maybe 2 or 3 years left in their window at an elite contenders. It is urgent they need to find an answer to their playoff depth challenges.

Last time I was at a game in Ottawa the building wasn't full because they had tarped off entire sections in the upper deck and the only reason it was remotely inhabited was due to the fact 75% or more of the crowd were Leaf fans.

This was posted on the scoreboard during the game.....it's a good indicator of how bad it was. $200 for a jersey and 2 tickets to another game.
