Sens fans loving the Sanderson deal obviously are new to hockey and didn’t watch Risto, Gost, and Myere in their first few seasons.

This deal could be horrible.

Reaves will add entertainment and make some fans feel good and safe, but i am skeptical him being on the leafs moves the needle at all, in regards to wins and the team being better.

also, if he is playing in the playoffs...i dont think he stops other teams from doing what they want. and overall probably hurts the team with penalties or whatever retaliation he thinks needs to happen

Super late to this convo, but I'd say that if you look at Reaves and then look at 4th liners over the past few years, I think Reaves could add more value in the playoffs than we've seen from:

Zach Aston-Reese;
Blackwell, Simmonds, Clifford, probably even Kase;
Nash, Brooks . . . an argument could be made for Foligno and Thornton, too.

On a team that is heavy in skill, you could even say that the inclusion of a Reaves over a Kerfoot could be preferable in some situations. Maybe not all . . . but you get the point.

I am not as down on Reaves as most are. He's a positive influence, big body, big energy, can go out and punch some faces if he has to. I'm not a huge believer in the "deterrent" idea, but his presence will help the team in other ways - like playing bigger.

Frankly I don't care about Reaves anywhere near as much as I care about Klingberg.
