Yeah and I really think most of it lies in the fact that he's older than most of the young player's parents and, in an ultra-competitive professional sports work setting, it really puts the younger guys who are trying to make the team in a tough spot.

You either have to tell the guy who makes a decision on your future "no" or be coerced into doing something that's entirely inappropriate

Chelios was on Tuesday's Spittin' Chiclets. His accounts of Babcock were pretty damning. Guy sounds like a master manipulator.

Yeah I just started listening to this week's episode today on my ride into work. I haven't gotten to Chelios yet but I'm sure it'll be fun

Not sure you can be a "master" when you keep getting caught.

Maybe a "master" of manipulating senior managers?

Fair but it sounds like he had a long run of it.

Its hard to comprehend all this from everyone involved. Feels over reactive ,
and it feels lnnapropiate what happened.

But i always believe accusers should be made public as the accused has been.

Imo , likely there is going to be some big time lawsuits gearing up towards the expose.

Forgetting the fact that the NHL and CBJ are employers and bound by state and federal labor laws, can you show me where your boss can ask to go through your personal cell phone? If anything the lawsuit would be by the person(s) who were asked to share the photos or the state department of labor against the CBJ and NHL.

All of these very passionate and convicted speeches from people arguing about their privacy, who would never let their wife browse their phone. It tells you something about the direction of our society, it's become rotten...and a good old Saskatchewan farm-boy, trying to do good and get to know his players, get's axed because of a new generation of litigious, safe-space sissies with so much to hide.

"Old school" maybe/probably, but manipulative...no, he's just not. If he were manipulative, he would have been a lot smoother gathering the info and then presented it in a sneaky, manipulative way. He just miss-stepped trying to deal with today's entitled little twerps and he got burned.

The players on CBJ have really missed out on a life-changing opportunity with this coach/person.

Ah yes, Barstool will get sued because one of their media properties reported on something that turned out to be true. I'm sure that one will rewrite case law for decades to come.

No, it’s the end of Babs. Torts will carry the torch. The NHL is stuck in the past as they continue to recycle the likes of Boudreau, Bowness, DeBoer, McLellan and Tocchet.

Mike Babcock is a (frank)ing idiot.

That's an invasion of privacy that is so blatantly obvious it's just embarrassing for him.

Doubly embarrassing/stupid because this is exactly the dumb poop he got fired for.

Just unbelievable.

I wouldn't trust this bumhole with any hockey related job ever again... Scratch that any job ever again. He is obviously not capable of basic human interactions.

You can still be a hard add coach and expect players to work hard. Still can call players out for underachieving. Like any business, the boss is responsible for motivating the team but not everyone gets motivated by the same thing. If players don’t want to work for the coach, then they have to go.

Except in real life an actual employee can get terminated with almost no strings attached (provided they aren't unionized) .

Brian Burke spoke of this, how does a coach motivate a player with a NTC, NMC , getting paid probably triple the rate of the coach. Often times what happens is the coach is the one that won't be there next year, not said player.

Not defending Babcock the slightest, but that want for control over his players probably stems from that mindset, it's either me or him. Old school coaching can still be done but it has to stick to hockey and nothing but hockey related issues, invasion of privacy is not one of them.

Sounds like a lot former and prominent players that disagree with you. Chelios' account on Babcock seems to the be most legit so far and the most damning. It well known at this point what Commodore thinks of him but there is a lot sour grapes there too.

Also the Mitch Marner incident was pretty bad.

As for privacy. People have the right to it and the right to protect it. You don't agree with it that's your choice. You don't get to go around attacking people consequence free. You can (frank) right off with that bullpoop. It's a good thing we even have the (frank)ing choice to begin with. What I don't get is why are you so bitter? What exactly is your (frank)ing problem dude? You should probably talk to someone about it. You sound like a crusty sour female genitalia who needs to (frank)ing punched in the mouth or hugged. Can't really decide. Maybe both.

Known as 'Babs' behind the bench, and the latter half of his surname in retirement.

I listened to Chelios' accounts of Babcock and it sounds pretty bad, I agree. I love Chelios and respect his opinion. When I had Babs as a coach 100yrs ago it was nothing but positive...he was awesome. This us where my defence comes from. He picked on a few stars no doubt but it was an extremely positive experience. It looks like Babs let things go to his head in the pros and I didn't realize a lot of the behind the scenes stuff. That never happened before. I think with today's crop of sensitive young boys, Babs (along with some others) is past his overdue date.

As for the punch in the mouth thing...I'll PM you where we can get together maybe. It's been a while, might be fun.
