Should have signed Dumba, sure he’s not the player he was but he still plays that tougher style of game that you guys need. - K-man25
I think that Dumba was definitely looked at by management. I thought he was paid a bit much honestly. If he would have come in the mid to low 3's on a longer term it might have happened for Canucks. Just not enough cap space though.
The amount of 3rd pairing D that signed for 3M plus this year is something Vantel is going to have to learn to live with. |

I thought McWard was easily the best D for the Canucks against the Flames. Simple but steady game much like Tanev plays. Maybe he’ll grow into the partner Hughes has been missing which would be a huge bonus.
Agree that both Juulsen and Woo looked like crap with the increased speed of the game. Don’t see anyone plucking either off the waiver wire. - K-man25
I had never heard of Cole McWard until I watched Ohio play in the frozen 4 tournament last season. Lohrei (Boston 2nd rounder) was the better player on that pair but I thought "that could be the next Tanev", I hoped Van could sign him.
Willander one would expect to be a better player than McWard. If Willander could turn into Pesce. That would be a pretty legit 1st pair with Hughes. |

Has anyone mentioned how Vegas is running their own games this year?
KnightTime+ streaming service.

Only if Vancouver was smart enough do to that. |

Just found out that Cory Schneider retired. I was surprised to also find out that he played 98 games with the Canucks and 311 with the Devils. Always considered him a Canuck but I guess not. - bloatedmosquito

(frank)ing genius, if only every team made it this easy to let their own fans pay to watch their games. |

Lots of fans don't care to see any hockey except their team play. $219 otherwise for Center ice.
I think it benefits fans around the world that just want to see their team.
KnightTime+ is probably the trial run for other teams. |

I would think it has something to do with broadcast rights. Sports net pays a lot of money to hold those rights. |

And then they black out half the games and the ones you CAN watch are delayed by a full minute. I live in the middle of nowhere but for some reason I'm not allowed to watch a whole bunch of Canucks games every year.
Not to mention I have to re-sign in to their app every few days for absolutely no reason |

I would think so as well. Maybe that's something that Sportsnet/ Tsn could offer in the future. Sport team specific packages.
I can't remember and am not going to google at this moment but I wonder if Vegas was part of the bally sports bankruptcy or whatever happened there. |

You don't HAVE to buy a VPN, it just hides your IP if you're worried about getting a letter from some lawyers somewhere.
Should be fine in Canada without a VPN. |

Doubly again, skip if you hate the Athletic's very own HB enemy Drance... snippet from his article on risers and fallers on the Canucks after training camp.
@Vantel, gives a little insight as to why McWard was with Hughes:
And also PDG's value with Miller: - NewYorkNuck
Good info, thanks!
That RD position looking problematic already ... hopefully someone steps up. An injury on that side could really leave them exposed. I don't think anyone wants to see Myers with top 4 minutes. Hopefully he can play out the string 6th or 7th. I really don't think he can attract anything at deadline. His last few years have really damaged any value he had with that contract. |

Canucks going with 2 NHL line ups with sprinkled the other guys over the next two games than 4-6 will have mostly NHL line up -Rick Tocchet.
I really like McWard, he's got a bright future for the Canucks. - Rick Tocchet. Compares him to John Marino.
Next two games will give a clear indication for me who plays in games 4 and 5. -Rick Tocchet. |

The right side is mostly problematic if you forgot that Juulsen didn't play with Hughes in the game vs Calgary. He obviously isn't a legit top 4 D. Hughes is normally able to raise his partner to a better level. As Tocchet said though, the defence is mostly by committee anyways.

Myers is a better option than Woo or Juulsen plus you can trade him at the trade deadline for some assets. Guy will put up a career year now that he’s playing for new $. |

Oh how I wish! Haha, I just can't see him pulling such a drastic turnaround from his well established chaos giraffe play the last few years. I know we're banking on a lot of bounceback years, to me his is least likely. Hiding him as a bottom pairing is their best option imho. Come trade deadline, if they're where I expect, his best value may come in moving up the depth chart and securing a better draft pick. |

It quieted down after K-Man's 3 day bender celebrating his Flames 10-0 thrashing of the Canucks scrubs. |
