So if Mikiyev is back from his personal issue and practicing with the team... how come he isnt in a preseason game yet?
- boonerbuck

Everyone still so upset about preseason looks

Ilya Mikheyev

Mikheyev has skated with the full group in a full-contact sweater, which is a good sign. He wasn’t a full participant in drills, however, and didn’t take line rushes even as an extra.

Given the severity of undergoing surgery to repair a torn ACL and the importance of managing workload in recovering from that procedure, it seems reasonable to suggest that Mikheyev will still be a week to 10 days from being ready to return after he’s had a full tilt practice with the club.

All I did was ask dipsh!t

It was reported he was good to go in the summer... but as of now... only close.

Looks pretty dumb that he played all that time with the injury instead of getting it dealt with and now he comes into camp behind everyone.

Every player that every comes to Vancouver who were healthy and had no history of injuries tends to end up being injury prone by the time they leave. Ikky Miky is no different.

It's early in their tenure but this management group is the worse for acquiring players who are out most of the time they've been here out of any I can remember.

Dermotte, Mikheyev, Hronek, Bear.... three of which picks were involved in the acquisition.

Interesting. So two are gone one of which had his major injury at international tournament. Hronek was acquired injured but could have played just no point to it at the time. Mik was also shut down so he could be ready for this season. So this is a pattern of inept management?

Call it what you want. Bad luck... poor scouting... or floods. I'm juts stating a unfortunate fact.

This is what was said about Lassi in a recent article of prospective RD that should hit waivers:

“…it might be worth going back to the well one more time with Lassi.
He’s an offensively-gifted blueliner with excellent skating abilities and some still-existent holes in his defensive game. He’s also got a good point-shot, which could be seen as an asset to the Canucks.”

It just doesn’t scream QH partner. Maybe for Soucy but then you will be having Myers playing with QH top minutes. That has chaos gaffe written all over it.

It honestly still looks like they are playing as TG wanted them too. They have no idea how to get the puck to the slot or towards the net.

For those all wrapped up in their 'it's only pre-season' and 'it's not even an nhl lineup', my thoughts after watching my first period of this pre-season ...

The good:
- BB, JTM and pizzaboy seem to have carried over some chemistry
- We haven't got scored on *edit nevermind

The bad:
- We can't carry the play for much of a stretch against backups, let alone score
- Myers looks like he may never score again, he's resorted to what I can only call a half wrist-shot when he gets a chance

I think it is looking like it is going to be a long season and I don't think I will be putting in the time or effort is this is the best they are going to do.

For the record the ceremonial puck drop looked like David against Goliath size wise.

I thought Rick closed down his account.

The few times I watched Kitchener last season, he always stood out. His defence or lacking of trying in his own end, was just something that as soon as he acts like he wants the puck could really help his game take off.

I dunno ... aside from a couple skill plays by Hughes, not seeing much of a better period so far. Let's be honest, if Hughes doesn't make a great play that 2 on 1 ends up in a rather embarrassing dump in the corner.

Still putting themselves in position to take too many penalties. A few more could have been called ... refs just seem to have a hard on for McWard.

Even in the last game of the preseason Green would still have an AHLer on each line and on each pairing. RT is applying better logic. Build off this performance tweaking along the way. They don't need to know who the 10th dman is.
