Karine Hains: In Hainsight: A New Beginning for Paul Byron When Marc Bergevin claimed Paul Byron on waivers back in 2015, Montreal didn’t know the gem it was getting and how long he’d stay in town for.

Shortly after his retirement was announced, the Canadiens issued a press release that Byron would be added to the team’s staff as a Player Development consultant working alongside Rob Ramage and Adam Nicholas. He’ll be joining the players on the ice, but also oversee their progression off the ice. In other words, the mentoring role he took on this summer with Logan Mailloux is now official

Frustrating.

Just when they clear up forward space by sending Pitlick and Hoffman away, they go and crowd everything up again with this trade.

Sure, nice to get another pick, but unless something else is on the horizon, this does not make sense - cap wise or roster wise.

- Mash

Maybe it means they have a taker for Armia ?

( as I kee saying, hope is free !)

Plus a great reputation, if Mailloux stays with him for a year and he can vouch for the kid it might help him on the PR side.

pretty obvious Byron isn't that kind of player, he didn't "target" the head.

Was sorta of a joke, I rarely ever draft a Hab (favourite team, tend to overvalue players) and I never ever draft a Leaf (Hate that team, would ruin the fun of my pool to have one of their players).

Just a strategy I always had.

It was both.

Byron isn't a dirty player it was his only carreer suspension, he wasn't a dirty player but it was a dirty hit. Weegar missed like 20 games and Byron got suspended for 3.

Also Byron is retiring because his hips are finished he can't skate whitout pain it has nothing to do with concussions.

and it should've stopped there, that fight should never have happened. the whole players' code concept is pretty (frank)ing dumb.
