All he did:
- was cover the front of the net for Skinners goal
- Control the puck down low during the 2nd period setting up multiple scoring chances/drew a penatly
- Drove the net to open the lane for the 3rd goal
- Broke up a play in the defensive zone and got an apple on the empty netter
Sabres don't need a 6' 5" bottom 6 guy doing things like that when you could have Girgs and his stellar individual defensive play. - washedup20
Maybe you saw more than I did, I thought he looked out of position a lot, especially in the D zone. Couple times he got the puck and had space ahead of him but was quickly caught. Girgs does nothing for me personally, but not sure he's an upgrade either. Swapping out a good defender for net front presence isn't a swap we should be making right now.

Good post
Murray didnt use his body especially around the net, despite his size.
Girgensons is an excellent defender with nhl speed.

Agreed. I thought he played better yesterday, less giveaways, but still left a lot to be desired. We need him to play like the heavyweight he is. - QuinnFan
He's played in one of, if not, the softest league in the world against 17,18,19 year old's.
Not gunna come play against AHL/NHL talent/size and expect to bully them.
League is not kind to slow footed, slow decision making players.
Below the hash marks murray is tough to knock off the puck. His biggest down side is he slows the play down on rushes and zone entries and speed is kinda the Sabres thing. It’s not about skating speed but more to do with reading the play.

Low hockey speed for Murray, lower hockey IQ.
Especially with our speed based, quick thinking team
