No way they're burning the first year of his ELC this season when it is eligible to slide, considering how much they love doing that with their prospects.

He was also the most famous Latvian player and his head coach for the Olympics was none other then one his first head coaches with the Sabres coach Ted Nolan and I cant find where he was the Captain of that team but I will take your word for it, but then again who cares if your the Captain of a of a 2nd to last place team, they ha ZERO wins in 3 games only reason they were not last was goal differential. Girgs did have 2 goals so that's something I guess.

Murray has done way more in 10 mores games at the AHL level then Girgs ever did. Murray has 23 goals 26 assists to Gigs, 6 goals 11 assists (10 fewer games.)

Also in the NHL gigs averages 9 goals (yes that's Right) and 10 Assist per year. I would wager real money if Brett Murray took over for Girgs he could get the same production.

Lastly, How in the world can you say Girgs is an all time Sabres great?? Nothing that he has showed thus far in his career should be considered great. In fact IMO he should of been traded or not resigned by now.

I mean the only thing really holding him back is his skating. He does everything else pretty well.
