Feel free to blame Jason Botterill for not selling Victor Olofsson out of the Amerks.
Then like what the (frank) are we even talking about? A middling player loses a little value after you projected him to have better value and now people are (insert negative adjective) because we didn't get a 4th round pick for UPL immediately at his Thanksgiving high? Or a 2nd round pick when we needed some prospects to actually make the roster for (frank)ing once like Olofsson?
What a farce. - TheSabresTaco
It's not all about getting a pick back. A big part is moving on and trying to improve your team.

What is it now: Season 3 of trying to maximize Olofsson's value to get a better trade return...? |

I don't hate Jokiharju, but.. he played way too many minutes. A better RD and we possibly make postseason |

Definitely not trying to maximize his value otherwise they wouldnt have benched him.
We heard from a whole bunch of ppl that they were trying to move him. I think with so many teams cap strapped its just not possible right now.
Rumour is/was ottawa has to move a 1st with Joseph to move that deal. Is he any worse than olofsson?
The league seems to have caught up on the notion that you really shouldn't want players like olofsson on your team (at 4.75 mil anyways) |

Probably wouldn't. Also been clearly outplayed, so they created a mess here. - Lunaion
Lol, clearly outplayed. He had one start where he got shelled and got multiple breakaways. Comrie had a lucky start, any other game he's letting in another 2 or 3 goals off those types of rebounds. Oh well, wouldn't be the first time the Sabres trade away a good player to keep a joker. |

We are discussing bad asset management, which is exactly what is playing out.

Imagine being smart and literate though and being confused every single time you read a post by Buff36 - and it wouldn’t be such a big issue if he didn’t post 76 times a day. He is literally 35-50% of the posts on here every day.
And it’s simple words like our/are, they’re/there and now/know.
And he refuses to be better about it. Missing a period at the end of a sentence is one thing. Refusing to be even a little more literate is why this country is full of dumb people who voted for Trump and why American manufacturing has moved out of the country.
The quality of American-made products and the literacy rate have correlated downward in addition to the quality of Presidents elected.
Reagan was head of the SAG and said his co-workers were all Communists during the red scare, he was a lying snitch and then people lined up to elect him and sat by while he jettisoned jobs out of the country at an alarming rate.
It’s a shame. |

I think that's definitely true. Just be glad it's not a 5 year deal. I'd bet that term was big front office debate. Would love to know how that one played out.

Which is fine but ultimately not a major concern. Oloffson, UPL, Bryson were given every opportunity and as of now none have claimed their role so if they fall off for nothing so be it. The return these players will fetch now is nothing I'm going to freak out about, and other teams also know the analytics behind guys like Oloffson and know giving up a real asset of value for him might not be the best thing. If they waive him and he goes for nothing I'm not going to freak out about it. If they get a 7th for him, terrific. He's gone after the season regardless of what happens and fielding the best team likely doesn't have him on it and that's what will matter more at the end of the day. |

Look I don't agree with some of the moves, or lack thereof. I get that part of it.
I'm specifically talking about what comes down as foresight to move on from guys when they peak, specifically as tweener prospects.
UPL was at his highest value when he won the wj. What that value was, was probably a 2nd round pick. No need to really go down the hole here.
Joker, yeah, sure, he could have traded him and swapped him out with something else. I mean ok.
All I'm saying is, it's not like kevo was selling his bitcoin at 50k. he bought it for 5 and now it's 4. Low end assets traded for low end assets. He didn't miss out on anything with the players being discussed.
If you want to rail on him for holding upl, joker, bryson, olofsson, shall we also praise him for holding mittelstadt and thompson?
Like I said. I don't agree with all the personnel choice. Let's just stop pretending he missed out on great assets for 'not selling high'. |

It played out by offering and Olo accepting a 2 year deal at almost $5 milly, which according to Taco is worthless.

Oloffson is one of multiple questionable signings, specifically $ amount, some like to brush it off due to term, but at the end of the day they are bad deals.

I didn't use the word worthless, I used the term low end. That deal was a prove it, to continue to improve. His trajectory was up at that point. What was he worth?
Because his better comparables went to florida and st louis, and one of them was a 2nd round pick and a pile of rocks. |

Minimizing the situations is fine, I identified this problem over a year ago, it hasn't leveled out or reduced, it has grown and no one has any idea what direction the GM is going.
Heading into year 4 the entire hockey world is in limbo with what they see as a team with a ton of potential coupled with multiple questions. The hype is great, the questions need to be answered before anyone takes this team seriously. |

The problems with his game which caused Meatball to sit him at the end of the season, were obvious the day they awarded him the contract. |

But atleast I try and bring a little hockey talk, and have never had to use Alternate Accounts to post because of how sh!tty I have treated people on here. Funny Sh!t coming from this guy or 7 which ever one is posting and isn't banned. |
