We've seen in the past how that goes and how it impacts his game when he's removed from the power play. - kingcong39
I think that is just more general Ralph effect than PP related. Benson is the key bumper on this team imo. Tage on one side, Cozens on the other. Dahlin up top and Tuch down low
Skinner does his damage at even strength and always has |

Same thing pretty much happened in Carolina though. I think they will try to keep him happy.

Still feel this way if he gets hurt? If you don't think he's physically ready for it, that should be a big concern. - Lunaion
I don't worry about him getting hurt, I think he's going to slow down in the middle of the season and wear down around February. Him putting on a few pounds of muscle will help with that next year, but I'm not worried he's going to get hurt game 1. Any player can get injured. |

Not buying the Skinner as a malcontent narrative but I get it

Does seem like he's matured a lot the last couple years, but we've seen funny things happen when you start to take away opportunities. I'd be surprised to see them shake things up.
I'd like to though...

If they feel this way, what's the purpose of those 9 games?
I still expect to hear that they don't think he's physically ready for the NHL yet and I don't have any problem with that. - Lunaion

It can negatively impact his play due to him not getting the extra time and space advantages the power play affords players, without going to him being a malcontent.
No idea why you went that far. |

Who was the last player to get 9 games but sent back, reinhart? I feel like he either makes the team outright or doesn't.

Won't matter as they'll send Benson back to Juniors before it's something to worry about. |

It's how this management team has rolled.
Only wrinkle is Olofsson, but it is difficult to tell if he is trying even less then normal with how passive he is in general with his play. |

I don't have a problem with it. He's either good enough to be on the NHL team or he isn't.
9 games with low leverage ice time isn't going to reveal anything new. If he stays up and is still playing with Tage then it's probably not a trial. |

Also a good point. If you were planning on keeping him up, wouldn't you want to see him with some other players?

Why would they give him low leverage ice. Would still think if they gave him that 9 games they want to see him play and how he handles his roll against a NHL Roster. Why wouldn't you keep him in your top 6. |

They won't, but that's typical of teams who give players a 9 game trial to see if they change their minds in that stretch. It's incorrect imo

Yeah that's valid. You'd probably want to see him with different centres.
I think there's a significant concern over what's happened in wenatchee though. That might keep him up for a bit actually. |

If they keep him up I expect him to get a real shot, otherwise why would they bother? Quinn is out to start the season, a spot is available in the top 6.
Another benefit of keeping him for a tryout, he gets more Sabres practices. More time with the coaches, staff, and players to learn. Imo, lots of benefits and low downside. |

Won't get much of a clue until Friday, assuming they hold back on what they send to Columbus.
Feels a lot like Peterka 2 years ago.

Definitely possible. Looks to me like they're setting him up for a real PP role to start the season tho. We'll find out soon enough |

How would the concern with the Junior club impact Savoie?
Are they going to keep him up as well, somehow...? |

I mean, I would. Is he eligible for an AHL conditioning stint post injury recovery?
Either way, I wouldn't send either back until there's a permanent resolution in wenatchee. |

That's it right there, might be better to be here development wise. |

Ahh the head coach for savoie and benson is another Mike Babcock. Which is not good to hear for the team and our 2 prized prospect's.
Savoie missed the AHL cutoffs by like 1 or 2 games too.
So a lot of question marks with their junior team. Problem is. Savoie and Benson will be taking up 2 roster spots potentially |
