It’s almost like all of a Dubas’s non first round picks are busts.
Cowan (28th overall) is going to play in the NHL. He would’ve went in the 2nd round of TOR didn’t take him. - Arctic_AARDVARK
He’s Treliving’s first pick, as a Londoner who’s gf grew up in Mount Brydges (where Cowan is from) I liked it |

Knies and Sean Durzi say hey, hot take bud.
Minten, Niemela, Hildeby, Holmberg, Abruzzese all look like decent picks. Jury is still out on Moldenhauer, Peksa, Ahktyamov, Ovchinkikov and Hirvonen as well.
Robertson was a steal outside of round 1 until non stop injuries completely derailed his development.
It's not like he had the best draft record ever but to say everything outside of round 1 is a bust is lack of knowledge on display. The leafs have a bit to show for a team who's largely traded picks away the last few years.

Always nice when you have a local connection with a player, especially a young player who’s up and coming. |

An old friend of mine since highschool who I see fairly often since she lives across the street from my drummer’s home where my band rehearses is his aunt. She always gives me nice little updates in person or via FB type thing. |

Robertson is snake bit. I really wonder if he is gonna pan out or not - Roadrunner75
He’s someone I forget about until he’s in the lineup but he’s actually always noticeable out there. |

The real question is….
If Tree was GM at the time, would he have traded for Chychrun?

The fact Klingberg is No.3 is kind of amusing me - Dozzer
He is the new Holl! Only Marner had more time on the ice. |

I had to read that a couple times to get what you’re saying
But I got it!
When I was in high school in North Bay, I lived directly across the street from Butch Turcotte, Darrens dad. He always made a small ODR in his backyard every winter.
The guy fk’n hated me lol. Probably because I never mowed the lawn and it was full of dandelions and they started popping up on his lawn.
RIP Butch, you old coot! |

Sorry about that ongoing sentence but I’m glad you understood!!! Lol
And holy hell!!! Even I’d be displeased with the uncut lawn!! Yet all I can hope for is to become an old coot myself!! Lol that would be an improvement to my personality |

Watched the game.
Wow Easton Cowen was incredible.
I think he went into this camp with a 0% chance it making this team but after that game there’s a sliver of a chance.
Either way excited for this kid. |

Its one pre season game, i doubt he gets a full time role with the leafs this year. Maybe hes brought up to the marlies in 2024. |

I agree with him not making the Leafa but he looked good. Adrenaline was likely a part of that but nice to see the kid many doubted temporarily put some of the concern to rest.
I could see him maybe playing in the AHL but I’m kinda thinking another year of Jr might be best for his development.
I mean he only turned 18 in May so why rush him? Let him play Jr and see if he can be a star there / dominate.

Oh ya its always great to see a new prospect play well in camp/pre season.
But i agree, absolutely no reason to rush him, let him play in jr and play well or dominate.
The leafs are in no need for him right now.
Let him percolate |

I think the transfer agreement means that the Marlies aren’t an option. Nothing wrong with more time in the O. |

since he was drafted out of the CHL/OHL, he has to play Jrs if he is not making the NHL, AHL is not an option until 2025. |

He was good. Further along than I thought. He’ll probably stick around for most of the preseason games. |

Guys, I know it's just a preseason game, but I think we can start sucking each other's Richards while wearing Cowan pajamas right now. |

Like the swallows returning to Capistrano, I always love Leafs Nation's annual over-hyping of a rookie based upon hopes, dreams and one game.
Quick question: is Cowan as good as Nick Robertson was at this point in his career?
As good as Bracco was after his first pre-season game?
As good as Sandin?
I'm not typing this to be a douchebag.
I'm typing this because every year we set unrealistic expectations, and run these kids out of town when they don't score four goals in their first game (with one exception, of course).
Breathe people, just breathe.

Pretty sure (most) people are saying he played well and will be back in Jr. I liked Gregor’s game. I think he has a chance of sticking around

If you're only considering his results/stats in the OHL last year, he's behind all of the other prospects you mentionned.
Now of course that tells us very little but your call to calm down is well justified.
