Wow, I thought Frost looked great last night ...
Its pre-season, I wouldn't read too much into it. The Flyers really didn't have their collective legs. But regarding Frost, this is why he gets so much scrutiny, he lacks consistency which means you can't count on him. - jd250
LOL, he led the team in scoring for 5 months.

It’s a big year for Frost. I thought he showed progress last year, but he does need to “progress” this year. He has the skill and ability….can he put it all together for a full season? I guess we’ll see. - landros 2
I know he put up some points last year but I just don't like the way he plays. He has good speed and skill, and a sneaky good shot, but he is small and soft, and I just don't like players like that. To me he is Sam Gagner, good but nothing special. |

I see the team was awful. How did the rookies on d look? Guessing no bright spots.
Also any concern with Tk who hasn’t been practicing from what I see?
Thanks. |

No, Frost went through the first 4 days of camp like everyone else so I am giving him the benefit of the doubt too. I am just pointing out that for Bill to highlight how poorly Frost played he must have stunk much worse than the rest of the players. Bill after all is one of Frost's biggest proponents. These are the things that happen with Frost that puts a black mark on him, whether you think it's fair or unfair.
Look, Frost has an uphill battle here. Torts clearly does not like Frost and wants Cates to win the 2C role. If that happens Frost will be expendable since they can always throw Laughton back to 3C. I for one want Frost to play really well this year regardless of how I feel about him as a player, since if Cates is ultimately the 2C on this team, the Flyers can get good value in a trade for Frost. - jd250
The only black mark placed on Frost is from uninformed sources. Those same sources state that on a team that is badly lacking talent and skill, that one of their most talented and skilled players could be made expendable.

Frost is not soft. That is simply not accurate.

FYI, basically every player on the Flyers is nothing special. Good at some things but not great at anything should be the theme of the Flyers this year.
Frost at least has playmaking ability. Flyers have very little of that currently.

A piss-poor preseason game, which is definitely was, is no more or less than that. The whole team was lousy. Frost was among the worst culprits last night. He still took big positive steps over the final 2/3 of last season. And he was the best offensive player in Sunday's two scrimmages played by Team C (not that it meant much, either).
I just get tired of the double standards.
Farabee is coming off a rough year last season, for various reasons, and didn't have so much as an "assist" (such as goals and assists matter in those circumstances) in the four scrimmages. With the Flyers getting shut out last night, he obviously didn't score. Even so, it was a step in the right direction albeit quietly.
Tippett had 0G, 1A in the scrimmages and was a non-factor in three of them. Of his 27 goals last year, 16 were against bottom-feeder clubs (same thing Frost gets questioned for).
So I won't say Frost doesn't deserve flak four his early camp so far. He does (Sunday scrimmages aside). Hell, I went into the many things I didn't like about his play last night in today's blog. But let's not blow it out of proportion. - bmeltzer
I’m with you, and it makes sense, but we both know the coach feels differently. It would be frosts best interest not to have a stinker in pre season |

He's been practicing, although not the last two days. We'll see. Torts refused to elaborate, except to say it isn't serious. Asked if it's a lower-body or upper-body injury, he said "it's a body injury". So that's about it. Hopefully he's in the lineup against the Islanders or Boston. |

I do enjoy Bill in particular calling out Torts.
He’s been handed far too much power, and is a fraud of a HC. Terrible hire I am sure encouraged by those wanting to keep an antiquated identity alive.

The secrecy re the injuries is comical. The only thing harder to find than an accurate Flyers injury report is Epstein’s client list. |

You have to admit Frost’s performance last night is troubling. Everyone on the team has been through the same schedule and were not horrible to the degree that Frost was. I admit I didn’t watch the whole game, but in what I did see of it Frost’s poor play stood out. He was really bad. I wonder if there is a fitness issue with him? I wonder the same thing about York. Is this why those guys are always in Tort’s dog house? I know Cates shows up in great shape and ready to go for training camp and Torts loves him. Frost also seems to be a guy whose attention to detail seems to fall off dramatically when he’s in more difficult situations (tired or facing better players). |

Agreed. Wonder if anyone else in the org saw last night's game and thought the same thing Bill did about the training camp structure. But Torts is the face of the franchise, so I doubt it. |

The bag skate and grueling preseason scrimmage schedule is by design. The organization is selling effort and hard work when the issue is lack of skill.
Same as it’s been for many years. They are loving Tortorella because it plays into the narrative. The players are spoiled and the Flyers suck due to lack of effort. Cracks me up that a portion of this fan base has taken to Tortorella like a cat to milk.
Takes the spotlight off the organization’s absolute failure to not only draft and develop talent but to enact a plan to achieve such goals. |

It's one bad pre-season game. Last season he was among the team's top players for months. Let's not get carried away here. I don't find the idea that his attention to detail falls off in difficult situations to be viable. |

I think folks need to realize this game was basically meaningless. I would much rather have the team be ready for game 1-82. Physically they were exhausted seemingly.
As a fan, if the team does not care enough to broadcast the game why should I spend time discussing it. 12U softball and soccer games are streamed regularly.
