He really did look exceptionally terrible. - Dkos
So did the rest of the team. Starved for hockey, I had to turn it off after about 4 minutes. Couldn't stomach it.

A lot of opinions from folks who didn’t even watch the whole game 😂
Torts really is holding Frost back |

He's been practicing, although not the last two days. We'll see. Torts refused to elaborate, except to say it isn't serious. Asked if it's a lower-body or upper-body injury, he said "it's a body injury". So that's about it. Hopefully he's in the lineup against the Islanders or Boston. - bmeltzer

I agree, the whole team was bad, but Frost was a different level of bad. Looked totally discombobulated. |

I haven’t paid much attention, because this team isn’t worthy of anyone’s time.
Atkinson is injured already? Can’t make it up. How is Ellis progressing? - PLindbergh31

Whole team was AHL bound players with the exception of Frost, Coots, Farabee, and York. Not sure anyone is expecting anything from Seeler and Walker |

FYI, basically every player on the Flyers is nothing special. Good at some things but not great at anything should be the theme of the Flyers this year.
Frost at least has playmaking ability. Flyers have very little of that currently. - mickel25
I agree that the Flyers do not have elite talent on their roster, but I would say they have a few complete players that have shown good offensive capability in the NHL already, specifically Couts and TK. They also have a young player in Tippet that at least last season has shown he has the potential to be a 30+ goal scorer in this league, and that is nothing to sneeze at. None of these players are elite but they are players that other teams would love to have in their lineup. Frost to me is not yet at this level, in fact I believe he is a few steps below. The hope is when Gauthier and Michkov join the lineup they will be elite offensive players, but only time will tell if that is true. |

Frost outscored Tippett over a 5 month period but he's not at the same level. Your bias continues to rear its ugly head. Both are pretty equal offensively to this point. I give Frost a slight edge as an overall player. Frost is better away from the puck. |

I wouldn't go nearly that far. Both Frost and York have already shown they are viable NHL players. A rotten preseason opener doesn't change that. But, that said, it was brutal last night for those two and others. - bmeltzer
When the coach names Frost and York specifically and fans are so quick to turn on the coach and defend the player, I find this to be an issue. There should be zero argument. Zero debate but instead, these guys keep giving the coach a reason to criticize them. Just show up to the game prepared and give it your all. Don’t give the coach a reason. |

Isn’t it funny when a coach so willingly becomes the face of a franchise?
Then better yet how so many line up to eat the bullpoop he dishes out?
Tortorella is a one trick pony. He knows how to play Babcock like games to intimidate his players. Effort only goes so far, and effort is the only thing he knows.
He’s an embarrassment for a franchise in 2023, but I am sure the old guard/alumni just love someone that can bring back those Bob Clarke glory days.
The day John is fired will be a good day for the Flyers, if he hasn’t cemented himself into an advisor role. |

I don’t even know what “one trick pony” means in regards to a coach. York and Frost have played under Torts for one season. York you might be able to get away with when it comes to this argument but not Frost. In fact Torts wasn’t even behind the bench yesterday, so I’m not buying the coach excuse. |

The concern is that Tortorella gets a hard-on for certain guys for reasons unrelated to their actual ability to play hockey. Both Frost and York are obviously very skilled players. It would be nice to feel confident that the coaching staff is not sabotaging them because of some old school philosophy. |

And Torts wasn’t even behind the bench. Didn’t sit him. He had linemates. Up against a split squad. He needed to be better. The whole team did. |

I wonder why the coaching staff didn’t need to see Tippett in the preseason… especially if Frost is the better player. |

I’m just over the “Torts” excuse, my friend. I don’t know what it’s gonna to take to motivate some of these guys. |

it's hard to know if it's more on the player or the coach. I tend to feel that the cream rises to the top. Good players are the ones who play well. I do understand a player can be put in a better position to succeed but that's hard to do on a team with as little talent as this one. |

All coaches have their guys. People act like Torts does everything different than every other coach out there.
IMO some of the issues were,
1. Too many scrimmages and not enough practices. Danny and Torts both wanted more scrimmages to see the players. The players were obviously tired.
2. Not enough practices with set lines.
3. Piss poor goal tending.
4. Too many non-roster players.

And here we go again.
First Atkinson will be day to day with a mild LBI
Then it will be, he’s gearing up to be ready for opening night
Followed by he’s gonna be out a few more weeks with an undisclosed injury
And finally, out indefinitely with a still undisclosed injury.
Lather, rinse, repeat… - BiggE
💯
I often forget he’s on the team.
