These folks love the development buzz word but can’t tell you a damn thing that’s happening besides players working it out on their own time
- ClaudeFather

Actually what has been proven in this thread is it is you that can't tell anyone a damn thing. All you can do is call people names. It reflects on you.

You live in fantasy land. The answers have been given to you. The only one pretending is you. You move the conversation away from hockey because you don't know squat. You have no rebuttal to what I posted about Laughton.

Claude, than the mighty Lindros, than 2 times Recchi in the 90s. Flyers haven't had a ton of 100 ➕️ guys.

So is the issue drafting or developing?

Not trying to cause a ruckus (although Wu-Tang tells me to bring it) but I think it is a point that should be discussed -- Bill care to chime in? Maybe on the podcast?

All we have to do is compare responses.

"Myers worked his way from an undrafted UFA, through the AHL and made it to the NHL. Apparently he did have a ticket. Including playing a very solid and promising season of 50 NHL games in the 19/20 NHL season. With no mention whatsoever of Myers having a hockey IQ issue. Apparently he contracted it somewhere along the way like a virus. Too bad there was no vaccine

Both York and Frost were mishandled. Frost in particular would be further along in my opinion if he was handled better.

Not many 19 year old defenseman are tasked with having to be the teams all situations #1 defenseman. Most young defenseman break in playing on a lesser pairing with veterans to help shield them while they develop into a top role."

"The sample size used for Myers is 180 professional games. One would think that any hockey IQ issue would surface in that amount of games. That description of Myers did not exist in that period of games."

"Was Morgan Frost an impact player last season? I guess that depends on one's definition of impact player and almost immediately. Which is subjective

Claude Giroux in his first pro season, spent 33 games in the AHL. In his first full season with the Flyers, the next season. He had 47 points in 82 games. It wasn't until the 2010 playoffs and his 3rd pro season and 2nd full NHL season that he broke out and became an impact player with 76 points in 82 games. I don't call that almost immediately. He needed some development time. Nice try, maybe next time bud"

"That's incorrect. Laughton wasn't even a scorer in juniors. It wasn't until his 4th overage junior season that he scored at a fairly high level. If you read Laughton's scouting reports. He didn't change his game, That was his game in juniors. He is pretty much the player that he was projected to be. He was never projected to be a scorer at the NHL level. You don't know squat."

ClaudeFather

"his is your example 😂 that’s a lack of talent bud"

"You don’t develop a star player man, you draft one"

"Maybe you need to rethink your sample sizes bub"

"Wasn’t I one of the first ones calling out his hockey IQ issues and you telling me I had no idea what I was talking about 🧐"

"They made him forget hockey like he hand not been playing for 20 years lol"

"Giroux became an impact player almost immediately, nice try, maybe next time bud"

"There was no miracle development here, just players coming into their own. Working their way up through the ranks. You folks really need to get your heads out of the sand. The same people screaming about Frost/York in the AHL are the same ones crying about development."

"What did each perspective team do to “develop” these players?"

"Scott Laughton is a great example for you folks on here. Was it a player that was developed correctly or was it a player who realized what he would be at the NHL level and adjusted his game to make the most of his skill set? I can answer for you"

"Please do tell us about Laughtons development"

"Tell us what they did, come on Cliff. You had a great answer, coaching…"

"I told you exactly what it was, a player realizing he was not going to be a scorer at the next level and transitioned his game into a more hard nosed utility player. Let’s hear about the development, come on, you’re up"

"Classic MJL, no answers , so resorting to just pretending nothing was presented to him"

It's pretty easy to tell from the posts above in comparison, who is the no nothing troll and who is informed. Starting with your uninformed comments on Giroux and Laughton, along with the condescension while showing that you have no clue what you're talking about. You're right about one thing. It is classic MJL. Exposing you for the fraud that you are bub.

You think they just did it on their own? Honestly, if that has to be explained, then it's worse than I thought. You can classify it as a miracle. I just classify it as player development. There is one question that you dodged and didn't answer. If players just work through the ranks and come into their own. Why do NHL teams spend so much money and time on development and development coaches? If it's just a crapshoot and it's 90% on players and they either develop or they don't?

You need a little structure bub, not just gonna throw the team out there with no coach and see ya later. Half these guys go back to junior or college where the flyers are non existent. Are they actively developing cutter Gauthier? If he comes in next year and scores 25 goals was it the Flyers development? No, it was the player working on his game and continuing to get better.

Need a little structure bub. You need to educate yourself. Yes, Gauthier is actively developing. It's why he went back to college instead of signing his ELC. He is being coached and developed at center, a new position for him. Junior and college hockey is development hockey. The player is not just winging it on his own.

Here is some education material for you. Maybe you can cure your ignorance, bub

Like I said, almost all of these players go back to junior or college. So how are the flyers so bad at developing when you just stated yourself that they go back to college or junior and develop? Where are the flyers involved in his time at BC?

You're not making any sense. Educate yourself with the information I gave you so you're not making a continued fool of yourself. Player development is a process that begins in pee-wee and up and all the way to the NHL if the player makes it that far. It is not as you describe a cross your fingers and hope with it 90% on the player. It is different for every player. Some need more than others. Some skip some steps such as going to the NHL and a high level out of juniors. The overwhelming majority of players need development and coaching to work on all aspects of their game to get to a higher level. Not all stars are instantly stars. This is pretty basic stuff. The Flyers have been in consultation with Gauthier, his advisors and his coaches at BC about their strategy for developing Gauthier. Due to NCAA rules, the Flyers can't directly be involved.

You’re drastically overestimating the flyers contact with cutter, he’s an elite talent that’s growing his game. Their input will have very little impact on his game, just like any other organizations would.

What is your evidence of that? What I posted is very basic and hands off. Even stating that they can't directly be involved due to NCAA rules. What are you talking about bub?

Your comment that the Flyers input will have very little impact on his game, is a ridiculously stupid comment. Gautheir's development as a player is only just beginning at the NCAA level. It will continue when he signs his ELC and joins the Flyers. Are you of the mistaken belief that player development only occurs at the junior hockey level?

Someone recently said that Taylor Swift is our generations Beatles or Elvis. It was an interesting thought since I really was not alive for either phenomenon, but I can see the analogy, the interest in her is off the charts.
