Agreed, I really like Monahan too but his health is a concern.

Also, if we look at the future his age doesn't quite fit with our other upcoming players.

hmm not really, he's only 28, a bit older than the rest but I find it's the perfect age to help out the younger guys and be their veteran mentor.

add Newhook, Dvorak and Evans to center the bottom 2 lines and now we have a bit of depth. Beck is coming up also next year (AHL or NHL)
- Symba007

This management is doing it the right way so far ... build up the D core, then our center line.

Next will be to add missing pieces on the wings.

...and trade him again the year after? the perpetual TDL whore, noice.

let's be honest, if Money stays healthy (big if), he will want to cash in with terms on his next contract.

Sure we always need veterans but I was thinking in terms of where the team will be in 4-5 years.

you mean after a healthy season this year?

even with a decent production I'm not sure he'll be in a position to be asking for a long-term deal.

in a normal situation at 32 years old a player would still be able to help his team out, but since we're talking about Monahan, his health is the biggest concern.

2024 is a decent draft, not a deep one but 2025 is expected to be a very good and deep draft. HuGo are still stocking picks for those 2 drafts. The main issue with the Habs pipeline is they have great quality depth but very few if any top 6 for sure potential. I expect a few trades in the coming months/year to acquire young assets wanting out of their current situation, Habs will have the assets to make a move.
