I came home to Montreal on a family visit in their last season and went to a game for poops and giggle. But more for the memory of being an 11 year old kid taking the bus/subway from the West Island with friends, buying a $1 bleacher ticket and paying $1.50 for a hot dog, coke and bag of chips combo.
With my $5 allowance back then, use to do that twice a week, when they were in town.

Grade nine we got to watch the game on the library on a tv.
That f’in Monday dude hit a homer.. - pete26
Yeah, I was in grade 6 at the time. The teacher pulled in the TV to let us watch the first part of the game, then I ran home in time to see them put in Steve Rogers and I was like... this is gonna be great.
I don't think I have ever been more shocked in my life from a loss.
Spent too much time growing up watching the 70s Habs, I guess.

better game last night, that was not difficult lol
Reinbacher will be a stud, impressive for an 18 y/o.
so coach StLouis wants to have duos
Caufield Suzuki
Slaf Dach
Newhook Anderson
which 3 players do you select to fill the top3 lines?
I'd go with Monahan, Heineman, RHP.
that leaves 6 players (Pezz, Ylonen, Pearson, Evans, Gally, Armia) for the 4th line.
at least 2, maybe 3 of them need to be placed on waivers. depending if they keep 3 goalies or not.

I know the regular guys weren't all there last night, but that powerplay is worrisome.
They will need to figure things out quick. Good thing they play less preseason games this year and will get time to practice. I still don't think Alex Burrows is the guy to get them out of that funk.

I cant see Gally on the 4th
Dvorak will most likely take his spot back with Gally on the third when he comes back anyway

Wasn't even the best 2023 1st rounder in that game

If Matheson is not there to run the pp on the back end, they will struggle. Maybe they could use Ghule back there untill Matheson can play.
Thats still a good reason to keep Mailloux, if only for a few games. If Matheson is ready to go, I think they will play a LHD on the right side.
I also thought Caufield was more dangerous in his first game vs. last night.
Maybe an off night for him, but I'm not used to see him miss the net this way - stinger67
agreed, but I think that's mainly because we haven't seen Caufield in a pre-season context very often either, like most players he probably has to fight a bit of rust off to fully get those natural reflexes and sniper instincts back.

yeah I wouldn't worry. the kid last played in January, he'll be fine.

also they might struggle on the PP early in the season but I think they'll figure things out soon enough and finally get a decent-ish production, they have the personnel to make it work.

Most goal scorers need time to re adjust. You can't really prepare quick releases with pressure during the summer. One of the few things you really can't replicate during off season training
