Based on Torts postgame last night I would say Brink is going to make the team. And I think Foerster is better than 50/50 of also making the team.
But as for Brink, I think its a sure thing at this point.

It will be nice to see if he does….not many around here ever mentioned his name or seriously considered him a legitimate threat to make the squad. Apparently he doesn’t read Hockey Buzz or he just didn’t get the memo.
Cam is what it is, nothing the Flyers can do, hope what we saw last night is how he plays and by a miracle you can move him at deadline. Agree on Hathaway, like the player and if no ND, all good. I do think if Hathaway plays well, he is a chip you can move at the deadline, I am good with the signing.
There is a scenario where the Flyers play well above projections. It is only pre-season but you can see if the D holds up, you get the goal tending, Coots and Cam are healthy and the kids are alright, the Flyers get to the fringe of the playoffs. That is the worse case scenario in my opinion. I want them to get to the deadline and be in full SELL mode. - wcorvette
Hathaway's 2.35 cap hit with another year on it will make him difficult to move at the deadline. He's a good solid 4th line role player that could help a lot of good teams. Yet he signed with the Flyers.

you have to like what Torts says, it honest and easy to agree with. It also seems he and DB are on the same page, especially like Torts saying "DB told me what he needs to see with the young guys". Interesting reaction to Farabee, seems Torts need more from Farabee, I don't disagree.

playoffs teams will be interested in him at the deadline, as long as he is playing well. One extra year at 2.35 will not deter a team. The last year he can be waived, Cap is going up etc. The guy plays a playoff type game, will add depth to a good team.
Wait, let me understand, you didn't say "Hathaway is not a good hockey player", instead you said "he is a good role player but he is not a very good player". Hmmm ... yup, one of us has a comprehension problem ... want me to give you a hint again?
My point about Tkachuk is it was Tkachuk who willed his team to the Cup finals, while Pastrnak, with all this 61 regular season goals, didn't do half of what Tkachuk did for his team. It's the intangibles with the scoring that matter in the playoffs. Pastrnak has the scoring, no doubt, but he does not have the intangibles. I believe TK does. - jd250
Intangilbles are a myth, if you cant measure it, it doesnt exist. Same as team culture,,,,fake news

Bill explained why he signed with the Flyers.
That cap hit will not make him difficult to deal. If he stinks up the joint that will make it difficult. They will not trade him anyway based on what Bill has said imo.
Has Forester done enough to stay up. Torts said it is hard not to keep Brink in the top 6 spot. - WhiskeyMan
If this camp is all you are using to judge the two players by, Brink would be in and Foerster sent down. However you cannot ignore Foerster's growth last season nor his 8 game NHL stint where he put up 3 goals and 7 points. Ideally you keep both of them and let them figure it out over the season.

It absolutely will deter teams. That's a lot of money for a 4th line role player. Top teams even with the cap going up won't be interested in carrying over a million in dead cap money just to get a 4th liner for one playoff run. Teams will need that cap space to pay other players. It's the cap that is an issue, not his value as playoff depth.
Is it me or has Laughton been mediocre? - Bayareaflyer
Haven't been able to watch enough to notice him being mediocre but if that's the case, as a vet, I am sure he'll be fine. Atkinson and Coots seems to be back in order thus far which I was wondering about. Should be fun to see Brink on the big club with Foerster waiting in the wings for a likely call up. Play all the kids FFS!
If they want to send a sign to the fans that they are serious about a rebuild. They will waive and demote Deslauriers and play Allison. - MJL
I agree and also send a similar message by keeping Foerster and Brink up, but that means someone in the top 9 is sitting. The reality is there is just not a lot of spots open on this roster now that a healthy Couts and Cam are back.

It will not deter teams as that type of player, one who can also play, teams want for the playoffs.
When will you get it that Gm's will 99% find a way to get a trade done if they want said player. They always make the cap work. His contract may help him as the team has him for 2 playoff runs. Stop pushing your opinion as fact cliff.

Actually the extra year is an incentive for good teams because 1. its cost certainty and 2. you are not giving up assets just for a rental but a player that can help you not just in the current run but also the next run. Remember, the cap is going up next year.

Any pre-season analyses for a veteran player guaranteed a roster spot is highly unreliable.
His goals are different than players fighting for the spot.
Has he been mediocre in pre season games lol? He’s the last guy I’m worried about. And him and cates were really good together against the islanders - ClaudeFather
Agreed, I don't worry about Laughton, he is a real pro. However, as much as I like Laughton I think the Flyers need to move him at the deadline. They really need to open his roster spot and now is the best time to sell on this type of player.
