With the fact its likely there will always be a guy injured there probably won't be many issues.
They may have to trade Lafferty though.
If they want to bring in Gregor. - Santo_44
This is the thing - I like Gregor just fine, but he's really not that much different than Lafferty, and I think in the preseason Lafferty has outperformed Gregor - it's just Gregor brings some additional speed and tenacity to the bottom 6. Now admittedly Lafferty has seen ice with Knies and Tavares and Minten while Gregor has been out there with Kampf, Reaves and Holmberg - so the chance to show better has been there for Lafferty.
But ultimately if it came down to signing Gregor and waiving Lafferty (noting that trade values at the waiver deadline in training camp are notoriously low), I wouldn't bother for the potential $300k. They're too similar and one of them is already known to the guys in the room.

The Berrios pull was odd. But i dont think thats only a Schneider decision.
if he had much to do with it at all.
but you are not going to win every game 1-0..so its not like it really mattered - senstroll
I think Schneider hated it, too.
But Atkins needs to be gone, or at the absolute very least, step the (frank) back from trying to over manage the game analytically and let the manager do his job.
Don't think Schneider is gonna survive the off-season, though. |

But then if you look at the Leafs' actual chart on CapFriendly, they list him as a 35+ contract.
But I'm pretty almost sure kinda maybe positive I'm correct on this one. - Atomic Wedgie
I can't see how you're not correct. The rule was placed in a 2020 MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) CBA amendment - and Giordano was signed in 2022 with both years being $800k with no signing or performance bonuses . . . by the MOU it's not a 35+ contract.

Also, time for the jays to move on from celebrating like crazy for simply "making"....or really getting lucky to get into the playoffs.
Have a few pops sure, but no more of this over the top party celebration. Its embarrassing, specially when you get in 28 hrs.
Ok moving on. - Fakepartofme

Well when the Leafs are putting millions into a scouting department I'd hope they can do better than beat writers and a handful of semi respected writer/amateur scouts who watch video and compile prospect lists every season. - Santo_44

I got 3 main sports I watch. Hockey (Leafs), Lacrosse (Rock), and Baseball (Jays).
I also watch the Argo's, too. But I don't go out of my way for it. If I miss it, I can live with it. - GreatGigInTheSky
Same, but I am not a football fan. We've had Rock seasons tickets since around 2000 - we went to Rochester for the Cup Final in 2003 and Hockey and Baseball have just always been.

Sick of hearing how pitiching and defence win championships. Jays saved money at the TDL by not adding a clutch hitter. Manager and batting coach should both be fired into the sun. Jays need to simplify batting - sick of the "be agressive approach" - Jays are strikeout kings as a result, "be patient approach" worked for the Twins. Also, Vladdy needs to wake the (frank) up, watching a 70 mph fartball fired over the heart of the plate, fall behind and then swing wildly at a pitch 3 feet off the plate. Hitters did nothing in the last month, Jays backed into the playoffs and celebrated getting in after a couple of humiliating losses. Give Vladdy one more season - if he can produce, especially when important then sign him otherwise trade him. The Varsho trade looking bleak after the first season, not likely to get better as Moreno becomes the best catcher in the Major Leagues and we are stuck with Kirk who has become an automatic double play regularly. - winsix
i dont know why people say stuff like that without looking at simple stats.
The jays as a team were 24th in strikeouts. Or they were 7th best to put another way.

Sure - but it gets crowded if you decide to add Gregor - otherwise that role is otherwise occupied. At some point you're looking at the financials and the flexibility that some moves would offer to you in terms of being able to NOT have a 20 person roster because that blows. At some point you're possibly losing players you don't want to lose on waivers just to be cap compliant. The $300k difference in salary between Gregor and Lafferty would possibly offer you wiggle room in the near-term while you awaited Timmins' return from the LTIR, but it doesn't resolve the problem into November when he's ready to return to the line-up.
Meh. Let's see what happens in the next few days. I guess we'll know by the end of the weekend. |

People kept doing that with the Leafs last season too, saying their team D and goaltending was bad.

I like the CFL's rules.
Plus, it's great to have a team that when they get to the finals, literally never lose.
I feel like if Rose played as good as he could for the Rock, they'd have won multiple times over the past few years. The team is just so good, that they should be winning it all. |

Going to Leafs game tonight with my dad and my two boys. I will provide a full report tomorrow.
And by "full report" i mean nothing of real substance cause i wont be paying that much attention anyway. So the report may just be, "fun game, had a good time....(frank)ing beer is too expensive"

They are occasionally on TSN, but more often on one of TSN's streaming services that you access through their website. If you are already a cable subscriber with TSN then you can access the TSN Streaming services by signing in with your provider as the proxy.
Because we live in Waterdown, which is on Hamilton's doorstep, this move has been great for us! As I get older that trek to and from downtown Toronto is increasingly annoying. |

It's now 14$ for a big can of Molson Canadian at the bell centre.
If only they had some sort of connection to the beer production industry so they could reduce the cost for the fans..... |

Nice!
We went on Monday to the Habs game. Sat in the 300s, but in the middle, so they were pretty good seats to sort of see everything. Hope it's a good game.

I hear you.
I'd rather not lose anyone.
Minten making the team could change a lot as well. I think Timmins injury opened up the 9 game trial possibility for him.
Some NHL games, WJC then competitive junior hockey down the stretch would be great, and if he forces the leafs hand to keep him even better.
Love to cheer for the young guys pushing out meh replacement players.

It's so (frank)ing stupid. Both them being in Hamilton and also how they just stopped putting the games on TV a few years back.
Then they get confused at why the attendance dropped. Can't sell the product when you don't (frank)ing advertise it.
You can get all the games by streaming them but I think it was either last year or the year before, they started putting more back on TV. TSN carries the games they actually show. |

My dads buddy was the President of some bigshot insurance place, and they had season tickets. Man, that was (frank)ing awesome. Private box under the Platinum seats. Get free eats and drinks, since it all went on the company card.
So we head there before the game and at half time. And when at the seats, the lady in the box would bring our drinks to us. She loved us, since she always got a massive tip. |
