I'm a Vesey fan. But, as Tom said, this is a low level disturbance.
I'll need to see glaring deficiencies in Pitlick to get too upset about this. Until then, I'll assume he brought something a little more than the 3rd/4th line awareness and skill that Jimmy shows. - Tonybere
Pitlick and Bonino are just Lavi type guys. Vesey may get some burn over Pitlick, but hes not his 1st choice clearly |

What we’d all expect to start the season - picklerick
As far as Laf, the org owes it to him and us as fans to put him in the best position to succeed and they have yet to do that in his 3+ years imo. Idc about last year, idc about preseason. His clock starts ticking now, he has Two years to prove he isn’t a “bust”. I really think he’s gotten a bad rap simply because of the situation and roster he’s been put in.
Look at this way, Tim Stutzle averaged 6 mins more ice time than he did last year, and every one loves Tim, but those same people think Laf is a bust. But if you use your noodle you’ll see why he’s “better”. He’s had the opportunity much more than Laf has. Not singling you out at all, just that it’s something that really aggravates me lol. Even so Laf produces at decent clip and he’s strictly been 5 on 5 for the most part, and 3rd line minutes. He’s rap isn’t fair imo.
My point being, he needs to stay in the top 6 all year and not get moved around too much. If they’ve committed to him at RW, don’t half ass it and keep him there. Deal with the bumps and hiccups, because the last thing we need is trade him for a blah return because we’ve lost patience. |

Never understood why they dressed him and Martin. Like what is the point. Martin can at least keep up with pace of play in the NHL. Johnston is so bard. |

They didn't dress them together often. Usually Johnston filled in if Martin was hurt. Maybe a handful of times they dressed them together so Ross could scrap with a true heavyweight. But outside of a handful of guys like Reaves/Deslauriers/etc... Martin can pretty much hold his own with anyone in the league. Maybe not now, he's getting kinda old.
The Isles entire medical staff occupies the two rows in front of my family's season tickets and a few of them have said he is genuinely one of the nicest guys on the team though. I'm glad he'll get an opportunity to play in Anaheim and not ride the bus in the AHL. |

Imagine if Laf could just be 30% of what Bedard
Is as a first overall pick. Would be nice |

Bedard leading Blackhawks forwards and 2nd on the team in ice time in game 1 of his career. Good chance he had more ice time tonight than Lafs ever gotten in a game. Laf isn’t in the same universe as Bedard, but that’s how you roll out a 1st overall pick. |

Bedard also doesnt have to 1. Compete with 2 all-stars for a spot and 2. Isnt being asked to play a different position to fill a need and also accomodate him. |

Agree completely, just an interesting comparison. Laf really wasn’t a great fit here for the reasons you mentioned. |

All rational takes. Hence why some of us (me included) thinks Laf can be a productive forward. He'll never be Mcdavid, Mackinnon,, Matthews, Or Bedard. |

You could tell by the way the league never sat Laffy down for a heart to heart with Sydney Crosby in front of a camera before his first game. |
